Have you tried using a program called Helium? Its free and doesn't require your phone to be rooted.

My usb doesnt work right now. I read I need to connect my phone to computer using usb.

Have you tried another microusb cable? I have had a problem with a cable working for charging but not for data connection. Swapping the cable fixed the problem.

You don't know of anyone with an Android or Windows phone or BlackBerry or palm/webos? Most of these devices are microusb

Try G Cloud. Download it from the Play Store and back up any files you wish on your old phone. Then when you get the new phone , download it onto the new phone from the play store, sign into your G Cloud account and it will have all the files you backed up, without using the USB cord. Hope it works for you, it was perfect for me!

Heard a lot of folks say the cable was guilty.

I found the Palm/webOS cables to be far and away the best OEM cables I've used. Not only kept them all, I often use them in place of lousy cables provided with newer devices.
