Pls Help! Updated to 5.1 and now showing lock screen!

Hi All,

I've got a stock unrooted Nexus 5. yesterday I updated to 5.1 and now its showing me a PIN Lock Screen (PLS). I did not use a PLS before the 5.1 update and I've never set up a PIN. Now I can't get in! I enter a random PIN and it says "Wrong PIN". I tried using Android Device Manager and I logged in and it found my phone. Then I followed the instructions and hit Lock and entered in a new PIN and it said "Since Google has already verified that a lock screen is already set, the password you entered won't be needed". What?!. What does this mean? How can I get back in without erasing all my data? Any ideas?

Your SIM has standard pin your operator knows. 0000? 1234?

I googled and the standard PIN for AirTel sim card is 1234 and it didn't work. Any other way to get in? Thanks,

Get PUK from operator, then dial wrong pin on purpose 3 times

Are you seeing the Android PIN lock screen or a SIM lock screen? If it's a Android PIN lock screen:

you could probably try a factory reset.

OK, I called google tech support and they couldn't help, so I had to do a factory reset. Good thing I do daily backups of all my important data! Took about 6 hours but I got my phone pretty much back to where it was (minus about 100 apps I wasn't using and minus 18 gigs of mp3 files I never listened to). Feels kind of good to have my phone refreshed. Thanks for the suggestions.
