deff evo 3d...Htc finally making great products and samsung cant even do a software upgrade without major issues...

Would you rather have the Evo 3D or Galaxy S2?

at first choice, I'd say Evo 3D but if everything went the way I wanted then it's a hard choice:

Lets say Cyanogen picks up both devices and source code is released for both in a timely manor.

And if they are both priced at $200 which one would you prefer?

One thing I got to keep in mind is that the Snapdragon's will have netflix.

Simply based off of specs, the SGS2 by far. If it came out on Sprint id definitely get it. If it comes out on VZW ill still probably get it. With that SAMOLED screen and those specs I can overlook the updates as long as I can root.

Evo easily.

Htc has much better developer support, faster updates, and the phones keep working!

Samsung on the other hand is thee opposite, plus their phones suck after a while.

Yea... and HTC's build quality and QC is also terrible. My last 4 phones have been HTC and lets not act like they didnt have the keyboard debacle with the TP's and TP2's, the dust under the screen with the Hero (that still hasnt been fixed even on the Evos), screen tearing on the Evo with light leakage from the bottom of the screen (which still wasnt fixed on the Thunderbolt), and the cracks at the top of the Evo by the power button.

I like HTC phones but im not going to act like they're perfect either. They could definitely stand to improve their build quality. Now ill agree they do have better dev support and updates.. but as far as the phones keep working.. ive had to have quite a few replacements over the years and they werent because I mistreated my phones either.

Specs you say? the epic had better specs too, and the evo still runs around it in every day usage. I see way more samsung devices on the bench with issues. Infact, I dislike working on samsung phones for the most part, as the quality is sub par.. Samsung devices drive my exchange rate up at work. I wont even begin to talk about there charging ports ugh...

Depends on how you see it. There are plenty of people that prefer the epic over the evo and vice versa. Most people I know that have the epic their biggest gripe is updates.

I've never met anyone with any of those issues.

I have an evo and never had amy issues like those and I've even dropped it twice before getting a case for it

Thats interesting since the complaints were on pretty much every message board.. including this one.

This one is easy. I have an Evo but the Galaxe S2 wins -

- SAMOLED uses less power, and is a better display
- its a lot thinner and lighter
- don't want or need 3d
- 16/32 vs 1/4gb internal memory
- cpu's are both equally good, so is build quality
- Samsung looks nicer

It's not even close.

Check your facts, evo 3D has 4 internal and an 8 GB SD card.

Ill be getting the evo 3D, but the dual core in the SGS2 is cortex A9 vs A8 on the 3D, this may not mean too much but sammys GPU will destroy the dual snaps also. Samsungs will be hackable while we don't know how root friendly these next Gen HTC devices will be (look at desire s), I'd give it to Sammy for being thinner and lighter too.
Memory is subjective, if you need it the buy a 32 SD card :p.
Sense kicks the hell out of touchwiz, and that's what the evo has going for it too.
3D might be real cool, but so is super amoled plus ;)

I'd give it to the SGS2 also, but not by much as they are both powerful enough to do ANYTHING you'd need.

Besides, we haven't seen to much of either device yet.

snapdragon is not an A8 processor and no it is not more similar to an A8 than an A9. just want that myth to go away...

This is just like the Epic vs. Evo thing from last year but honestly, both of these phones are fantastic so you can't go wrong with both of them. If you prefer one over the other maybe for the form factor, or the 3D, or the SAMOLED, I don't see what's wrong with that.

Samsung devices feel cheap. lighter and thinner is not always a good thing. Pick up an evo, and pick up an epic, and tell me which one feels more solid. As far as looks go,htc has pretty much always made better looking phones, this year is no different. We wont even get started on touchwiz...

Its not cortex A9 either. it has similarities to both the A9 and the A8 calling it one or the other is incorrect. Snapdragon is entirely built by qualcomm using the same armv7 instruction set as in both cortex A8 and A9, that is what makes it similar to both. here is a good article explaining the similarities and differences between snapdragon and both cortex designs

download the artcle and read it. it will help explain

Don't forget, the SG2 launched with 2.2, where as the EVO 3D is launching with 2.3...
You can't count on sammy rolling out timely updates since the past devices have shown us otherwise. HTC on the other hand is pretty consistent, and gets their updates out fairly quickly, the 2.3 update for the og evo being a small exception.
