Don't forget, the SG2 launched with 2.2, where as the EVO 3D is launching with 2.3...
You can't count on sammy rolling out timely updates since the past devices have shown us otherwise. HTC on the other hand is pretty consistent, and gets their updates out fairly quickly, the 2.3 update for the og evo being a small exception.

actually it ships with 2.3

Reading specs for both phones I couldn't find whether the GSII has a dedicated GPU or not- Evo 3D does.

Yes the SGSII does indeed. It is the ARM Mail400.

All smartphones nowadays use a SoC (system on chip) which have a dedicated graphics subsystem.

Since Sprint lost much of their roaming agreements and it seems to have affected Southern California (Desert areas around San Diego) I will be getting the SGII on VZW. The slimness of the SGII is a huge selling point to me, I like the style of the Arc better, but the SGII is just plain pretty. I have also enjoyed playing with Touch Wiz on my girlfriends Epic compared to my EVO Sense.

Ill be getting the evo 3D, but the dual core in the SGS2 is cortex A9 vs A8 on the 3D, this may not mean too much but sammys GPU will destroy the dual snaps also. Samsungs will be hackable while we don't know how root friendly these next Gen HTC devices will be (look at desire s), I'd give it to Sammy for being thinner and lighter too.
Memory is subjective, if you need it the buy a 32 SD card :p.
Sense kicks the hell out of touchwiz, and that's what the evo has going for it too.
3D might be real cool, but so is super amoled plus ;)

I'd give it to the SGS2 also, but not by much as they are both powerful enough to do ANYTHING you'd need.

Besides, we haven't seen to much of either device yet.

FYI if I am not mistaken the Adreno 220 kills the Tegra 2 in the Galaxy 2.

Anyway after experiencing the delight that was the original EVO as well as the terrible software support (at least in the U.S.) of the Epic 4g and Instank, I can safely say I won't be buying another Samsung phone again. I'm actually embarrassed they fooled me again after the instank.

if you roll back in time, would you consider the nexus s? samsung.. but Google "branded"

Really, the only thing the determining factor of my next phone between these two is if the epic 2 will have a keyboard or not. If it doesn't, then I will get the epic 2, but if it does, then it will be the evo 3d. Think about it. Do you really need a keyboard when you have a 4.3 inch screen?

And they were both on Sprint?

Damn that's hard

3d vs super amoled

Snapdragon vs hummingbird

Taiwan vs Japan

The Sammy wins. Its just so pertty
Its super skinny

Swyped from my Gingerbread'ed Optimus S

dont forget its the Super AmoLed +

when i watched the hands on for the S2 i was blown away by the screen pop.

the evo 3d didnt look so good on camera, but its just how the 3d effect looks recorded, it just doesnt blend right.

its the naked eye which will make my decision.

im not really sure the S2 will launch with 2.2 once it finally hits the shelf.....

The videos of the galaxy sii have me rethinking my decsion about the evo 3d. I want to see the two phones in a head to head comparisons.

I feel funny about saying this, but i feel the same way. I'm dying for a COMPARISON.

I think the 2D Camera/Video capabilities on the SG2 are gonna be insanely better than the EVO 3D. The 1080p @ 30 fps is noticeably better than 1080p @ 24 fps on the EVO 3D.

I love SENSE though. If Sprint gets it, I will only get the SG2 if it come with-OUT the Epic's keyboard.

Funny, that's the exact opposite for my reason to buy the epic 2 cuz I want it to be skinny lol

I would hope sprint`s version would not have a keyword. It would defeat the purpose of the phone being so light and thin. The galaxy s ii is very fast and has alot of nice features.

Sorry, I've had too many friends have buggy Epics for me to go with Sammy right now. And they haven't even mnetioned anything about the GPS fiasco. Add that to the Epic's infamous history of NOT getting updated promptly... If I were to go to a Samsung device, I'd go Nexus S4G. I don't think Google'll let that phone get buried. Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

I think its funny everyone is saying the evo 3d cuz of devolopment. What development? lol it has a locked bootloader guys. Come on. AND EVERYONE ELSE WHO IS SAYING ABOUT SAMSUNG WILL NEVER UPDATE IT. The phone has already gotten 3 updates in a month of it's release. Have you not heard what google is doing with all the carriers in the u.s. and the peoples in the devolpment alliance. They will release the latest updates for the phone for 18months. That's a promise.

That's what they *want* to do, and have a pledge from carriers and manufacturers, but it's not in effect yet, and other than the announcement, we haven't heard any more details. Until they come out and say it's being "enforced", I'm not believing it's in effect.

Also, I think they updates they're talking about are the OS updates, like major revisions (Froyo to Gingerbread), which Samsung has been notoriously bad about on handsets like the Epic (and even when they get it out months late, it's buggy).

Has HTC/Sprint been any better? Gingerbread has been out nearly 6 months and the Evo is still on Froyo...
