From what I have seen, browsing these forums is that most of the problems seem to be with the 16GB models but I could be wrong. My Nexus 7 is flawless (luckily).

That's my suspicion. I'm very close to pulling the trigger on one, and I honestly don't think I'll need much storage since I'll usually be in WiFi range, but was leaning toward the 16GB just to have the extra room.
Then I noticed a lot of the problems seemed to be with the 16GB models, so I figured I'd check to see if there is a correlation.
Actually, my theory has to do more with where you purchased your N7.
A lot of people got theirs from retailers who only sold 16g's. And it's my understanding the retailers received their orders straight from Asus and not from Google.
I think there have been more problems with the early units from retailers than from Google and I also believe that's why the orders were delayed. I got an 8gd from Google and it is perfect!!!
I got the 8 from Google a few small issues like after playing a game for awhile the screen will not respond so have to shut down and restart. Google play has not responded per email and can't get through on phone so I gave it to the wife and got a 16 from staples 2nd day and everything seems fine in fact better then the 8 from google play. Just had to set mine up under her name in google play so we would get the $25 credit so now working out the email and facebook etc. notices thing. At least if the 16 starts having issues I can take it back to staples and not be put off by google play.
Thanks for all the votes and replies, everyone. Very small sample, but I don't see a correlation between model and build quality. At some point, I'll head down to Staples (so if it's bad I can swap it out) and pick up the 16GB model (because with 16, there's always that little bit of extra when you need it).
My local Staples has shown availability for three straight days now, so I'm not too worried about swapping out a defective unit. It's just a matter of being able to get down there (it's 10 miles from work in the opposite direction from home, a long round-trip on my bicycle when I already have a 15 mile ride).
