Poor call quality on Verizon G2

I have had multiple complaints from people complaining they can't hear me or saying that I am coming across muffled. I have been told that it will suddenly sound like I have covered up the mic while talking. Someone else told me I sound like Charlie Brown's teacher. The crazy thing is that this will happen when the phone is not resting against my face (only my ear) and it will happen and my hand does not move. I can stay in the same position and it will go in and out of clarity.

This and the GPS issues I am having are going to cause me to trade in this phone and give it one more shot before calling it a day. I hope that I just have a lemon and an exchange will fix it.

I too get the same squelching and garbled sounds in ALL of my phone calls (both mobile and LAN lines). I don't use my phone to talk much, so I didn't notice it until I would use my phone for more than 3 minutes (after about a month or so). Then I started testing it by calling multiple people on both their mobile and LAN lines. All calls have this annoying screeching sound. I love the phone and luckily I rarely use it to actually make phone calls longer than 3 minutes.

I notice it on all calls as well, but it's worse on mobile to mobile calls. I love everything else about the phone, but I am a phone talker and the static is a real problem for me.
I'm using the Verizon version.

I have an LG Cosmos through Verizon - essentially a "dumb" phone. I have had this squelching noise on my phone for at least a year now. When I called Verizon about it, they said there had not been any reports regarding this and that there could be problems with the towers. Makes me wonder.

Idk if this thread is still being looked at but I'm a sprint customer and I just recently purchased an LG g2 is well and there's a problem with the call reception for me to the very garbled is distorted I can't really hear anybody when I'm talking and it's kind of ridiculous and frustrating

I called sprint and there is an issue with the phone my sprint custom service guy i was complaining to spoke with an lg rep and he said they confirmed it and they said it's a minor issue and that its not carrier specific meaning all of the carriers have phones with this issue but he supposedly said that it doesn't affect every phone but to me it seems like it's affecting at least most of them i mean it's a shame it's a Pretty solid phone but I can have it When i cant even hear people clearly when I'm talking.

so yeah like I said supposedly LG's admitting that there's an issue with the phone If anyone has heard any updates about this topic please let me know

Go on xda developers forum for this phone, there is a fix. I have had 3 with same issue, called sprint 11/26 for the thousandth time. Pit me on hold, came back with a code I had to put in, made me disable something. Poof, new phone, works perfectly now. Than I went on xda and saw same steps sprint made me do. I think the thread is something like, sprint call quality fixed, something to that extent. Take a look and report back.

Actually the fix is posted on this site under sprint lg g2, Workaround for call quality issues.

Here is the work around from eyeisdasteve XDA
Go to the Dialer
Type in ##3282#
Tap More
Tap Advanced
Tap Edit and enter the handset MSL
Tap EVRC_B
Set the option to Disable
Tap the Back Key and the device will Power-cycle
You can get your msl by type in ##443336772#
Crackling and popping noise disappears after I disable the EVRC B .So far so good

I just got the LG G2 with Verizon 8 days ago along with my brother. He is happy with his, as am I, but we both definitely have the same problem as you. We can hardly hear the other person at times along with random noises, even with voice enhancement & such. PLUS nobody seems to hear me consistently when I call them, apparently, I only sound absolutely clear on speakerphone, otherwise, they ask me constantly what I said, even if I'm NOT covering the microphone slots. It's rather annoying really. I switched to Verizon because I make too many important calls & I needed a reliable service that won't drop them. & now I have a reliable service but nobody can hear me. I really need help with it, please let there be an update or something! Like a lot of you, I love the G2, it's an amazing phone, but this call quality issue might turn into a deal breaker for me. If someone else is having this problem, it'd be much appreciated to hear a solution or just to hear that I'm not crazy.

I tried the verizon fix and I still get the squeal in the line. I'm trying to decide if I should trade it back before the 14 day.

The new modem (12b) seems to have eliminated the problem. You can find it on xda.

sorry to un-bury this but Im in desperate need of help. I have a g2 and I live in Cyprus (europe). When I go to the dialer and type ##3282# nothing happens. Where do you guys find 'more' to tap?

Do you know how I can access these dialer settings any other way?

Thanks
