Poor call quality on Verizon G2

So you had problems with the phone from day one but didn't return it in the 14 day period you have to return it and that is somehow Verizon's fault?

So who is saying they will give you a refurb different phone? Verizon or LG? It is hard to tell by the way you wrote that. If the phone isn't working right they (Verizon) has to replace it with the same phone.

I have had the phone since release date with no problem.

14 days isn't very long. You could call and they shine you on... no problems... haven't had a single complaint.... maybe the tower..... will probably go away.... have you tried a factory reset? Before you know it 14 days are up.

I've had my g2 for 8 days now and the last 3 days I've been getting the same issues. Went to Verizon yesterday and they think it's an issue with the phone, and tried to get me to swap to a Droid. Told them I'll see them the 10th Oct and swap to the Galaxy Note 3. Seems more and more people are having these issues as more Verizon LG G2's are sold, and as time goes by. Love the phone other wise!

I still say it's an issue with certain cell sites. Otherwise the majority of people would be having these issues whereas the opposite is true, very few having this issue. I think Verizon needs to investigate why certain towers are handling the G2 differently. I've traveled throughout New York & New Jersey and have encountered zero issues with call quality.

I got my g2 on release day, no problems with call quality. I got my wife one on the "keep unlimited" frenzy day. Her phone had terrible audio problems. Took it to the store and swapped out on the spot. No issues with either now.

THERE HAS BEEN A FIX THAT WORKS!!!!!!
[ROM] Malladus 1.1.2 has been worked specifically to fix the Audio issues on VZW G2. The problem got better on 1.1.1, but on 1.1.2 I have no more distortion or screeching!
Try it out and report if it works for you guys.

[ROM] Malladus 1.1.2 - 10/11/2013 [JB 4.2.2] - xda-developers
Can you find out from them how they fixed it? Or at least what the cause was? I'd love to forward that to my verizon tech support person.

The Verizon rep at my local store said I was the second person to have the audio screeching problem. He said he does not recommend the phone anymore to customers. Hopefully LG can figure this out because I would really like to go back to the phone after switching to the HTC One.

I just switched to a (Verizon) galaxy note 3 after having returned the G2 because of the digital screeching problem. I'm having the same issues with the Note 3. I work from home and it only seems to occur from around my house.I wonder if it has something to do with the radios or tower. Signal Strength showing -94 dBm 46 asu.

Also wanted to mention my old verizon phones were a driod bionic and galaxy nexus. Both never had similar issues.

Very interesting! That leads me to believe it's definitely something with these new phones not playing nicely with certain towers. Maybe it's related to the phone?s lte-a capability?

I'm currently running Malladus 1.1.2 and the call distortion is still present. I'm now on my second replacement G2 and regardless of which ROM I've run (stock, Cleanrom and Malladus), the call quality has been horrendous!

I think a lot of the call quality issues can be resolved when LG allows the phone to use both the top and bottom microphones. As it stands today, when in a normal call, only the bottom mic is functional unless you turn the speakerphone on and then only the top one is active. Most phones use both together for noise reduction and improved call quality. I've tested this on my personal G2 as well as two demo units at Verizon store. If you don't speak into the bottom of the phone, chances are the person on the other end of the call won't be able to hear you. Using bluetooth headset bypasses this issue since the mics in the headset are then used.

The issue is entirely on our end; callers have no problem on their end.

Ah, ok. I hear the callers fine, they just have issues at times hearing me. I understand a software update is scheduled for November. Perhaps it will resolve some of these issues.

I'm curious where you heard that a software update for the LG G2 was coming in November? Any more details you can share?

In addition, maybe it has to do with the fact that both of these phones (LG G2 and Note 3) are running the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, since these are the only two phones in the US right now running this newer processor. Not sure how this might impact the voice quality, but just a thought.

That's a great point because my s4 was lte-a and didn't have any issues. I've traveled through Charlotte and now Tampa and haven't had any issues with the static. I think it is a regional tower problem now. I also think there's two issues, sometimes when the other person can't hear you and other times when you hear the digitizing.
