Poor Motorola Droix X battery life?

I got about 13-14 hours out of mine today. Not bad considering I did a fair amount of web browsing. Really though, it's unrealistic to expect very good performance out of a phone with a huge screen like this. There will be some compromise. Once I can get through a work day, I'm happy. With that said, I'll be springing for that extended battery when it comes as I'm planing to use this for viewing/taking video more often.

Been playing with mine non-stop since 8am with g-mail pushed, and facebook and weather n stuff refreshing every 15 minutes. My batt is at 70%. Thats 5 hours of non-stop use pretty much. Some of u may have bad batt's?????????????

How do you set those to refresh every 15 minutes? im getting gmail like 4 hours later!!! and the social network widget seems to update...whenever it feels like it. i have gotten status updates from 20 minutes ago and then some from 8 hours ago.

So here are my results:

I bought the phone yesterday and this was the phone's first full charge to full drain.

- Took it off the charger today at 7:30AM
- It just turned itself off at 11:12PM

Usage:
- Made about 3 hours worth of phone calls (one of those an hour long conference call)
- Used Pandora for about 20 minutes
- Browsed the internet for a good 30 minutes
- Tons of text messages
- Arranged my pages, etc.
- Took about 5 pictures and 30 seconds of video
- Used the Live Wallpaper Theme of the water and leaves

Configuration:
- Battery Manager - Battery Saver Mode
- Brightness - Automatic Adjust
- WiFi - On
- Advanced Task Killer - Set to Auto - Safe Mode

Overall I am really pleased with the batteries performance. I see this as my typical day-to-day usage.

One thing I found very strange, at about 6PM today my phone said it was down to 20% battery left (based on the default android battery information view) and I restarted my phone and BAM my phone reads 50% battery left and it runs for another 5+ hours. I'm not sure what that is all about. Anyone else experience that?

Hope you found this helpful :)

The WiFi not working is starting to piss me off. I know this isnt on topic but since ppl are complaining about somethin here, I just threw this in :)

The damn thing keeps turning on and off, on and off. Also, the phones laggy... Dont like :(

not trying to be a smartass here, but did you actually connect to a wifi network? You can go and turn on the WIFI radio using the little widget, but it won't connect you to a network. You need to go into the network settings and connect to a network.

My battery has been pretty poor too. Took it off charger at 9am and it was at 30% by 5pm. I didnt hit it to hard. Charged for 20 minutes this afternoon and it was dead by 9pm.

I've had to charge mine twice a day to prevent shut-down since I got it (that is to say, twice yesterday and then again today around noon). I'm at 20% now and will plug it in when I go to bed. All of the self-updating widgets are gone, wifi is turned off except when I download an app that is large. I have played with it quite a bit, but nothing that I would have considered excessive on my previous phone (Storm). No phone calls at all, maybe half a dozen texts.

I'm a bit frustrated with the battery at this point.

Edit: Ok, I went over some of the linked articles and I'd done 90% of it, but I hadn't realized I left the GPS on all the time. Also, I have 30% battery life atm, which isn't awesome since I charged it at noon, but is better than yesterday. So I'm holding out hope that I'll be able to turn and RSS feed or social networking widget (with appropriate update times) at some point and still make it through a day now.

Ok so my phone just came up saying it was at 5%( I ignored 15 and 10) and that i should plug it in. So i turned it off since it has been on non stop since yesterday. When i plugged it in the battery icon came up saying it was at 50%!!!! Something has got to be wrong with either the battery or the software.

Yep. Exactly that. Went into the options and chose the network I wanted. I don't put much stock on the widgets as I always had issues with them on my droid.

What exactly are you guys running on your phones? My phone's lasted all day, with > 30% battery life to spare, and that's from the time I woke up this morning (8am) until now (~3:30am). I'm not running ATK, I didn't need to disable any of the animations, I even have the social networking widget updating at whatever frequency is the default. I was actually amazed at how well the battery's performing, not the opposite.

Mine has been great i unplugged it this morning at 10am and its now 4:15am and have 30% left. I've done some browsing, around two hours of talk time and a lot of text messages. I also have a few weatherapps and twitter updating every 15mins.

I was told from other forum that the battery metering is not reliable when you power cycle the phone and will be fixed in the 13.604 OTA update. So even if it shows 50%, it should be the 5% you had previously. That is why some users were reporting 50% to 5% very quickly because their battery in reality is only 5% but upon power cycle showed erroreously 50%

Fully charge it overnight should reset the battery metering correctly as what I was told.

It seems every review praises the battery life of the X, however, it has been very poor for me so far. Anyone else with this problem? Any suggestions?
I had issues on day one after charging. Day two, i uninstalled automatic task killer which the vzw rep installed and i was still at 60% at the end of day.

Yeah, that exact thing happened to me too. Not sure what that's all about.

Absolutely wonderful battery life. It died quick the first night out of the box. Full charge over night and it ran for over 30 yes you saw that right THIRTY hours with moderate use. I was showing it to some of my coworkers, surfing the net, using the video, pics etc, even used navigation a little just to show capabilities. I was still at 15% when I started recharging it. I don't have any live wallpaper, I removed all the social crap from the main screen, stopped the news updates etc. so that is likely some of it. I also went in and stopped things manually under application settings/running services. It was more social networking crap running in the background. I have wifi and bluetooth off.

I do use ATK, and I actually had it in PERFORMANCE mode just to see how long it would last (fully expecting it to be dead by mid day so I had a charger with me).

I have absolutely no complaints about battery life.

Of course I am very busy at work and can't play/surf the net all day but I do use it quite a bit for phone/text/smart apps.

I don't have any issues with signal either.

Not sure if anyone happen to see if but I posted a new thread regarding the settings in the "Data Manager" app. In it, it has similar settings to that of the Inc under Mobile networks that a was causing the Inc to have terrible battery function until you unchecked an option.

Under Data Manager theres 2 options; 1 - Background Data and 2- Roaming data. Both were on and I unchecked them. I plan on testing to see if I see any difference in battery life with these 2 off as the first one - Background data gave me a similar message that I got on my DInc when I unchecked an option that said something about getting better battery life with this option unchecked. I suggest those of you with battery issues to try unchecking these and see if you get better battery life.

As for my X. Im now having another issue with mine other then screen locking up/freezing/being nuts, Wifi issues and the UI being clunky/sluggish and that new issue is that ALL, and I mean ALL my settings reset when I restart the phone. Its really annoying as I have to go back into all the settings and re-do them to how I had them. I have no idea why its doing this but I fully intend on taking my phone in to the store and get a replacement. I got mine at Walmart on the 14th and have never gotten a phone there before so Im unsure how they work getting replacements. Anyone get theirs at Walmart or have any clue how they work with phones and replacements/returns?

My friend has a Nexus One and the first thing he told me to do was put Advanced Task Killer on the phone, after a day or so of fooling around with it, surfing the web, looking for apps etc (I'd describe it as "Normal person heavy usage") the battery was at 40%. Is it because the battery rocks or because of ATK?

Dunno.

Also one more thing I did was pretty much shut off the backlight, it's not that much darker so it doesn't bother me one bit.

I also used my GPS for a bit yesterday and that was the "40% left" day. The phone got crazy hot with the GPS on, heh. (Roughly 90 outside and the phone felt like a solid 110-120)

You seem to be having every problem with your phone. Have you done a factory reset yet? I'd try that first.
