Hello fellow Android users.. :)

I have just changed from the iPhone 5 to Samsung Galaxy S5. while I am absolutely loving this phone I can't help but miss the pop up notifications (like on the iphone if I get a email/fb it pops up on the screen to notify me), instead it just appears in the notification centre and all I hear is a sound on the S5. Is it even possible to have it pop up on the screen? I've gone through the settings but I've not been able to find anything on it. I receive a lot of emails for my business so this feature would really come in handy.

Does anyone have a solution to this? Many thanks in advance!

Until Android "L" is released you can try Heads Up! notifications. Download from the Google Play store for $1.

Thank you, I will try that! What does L mean?
Our phones are on Android Version 4.2.2, otherwise known as KitKat (Android versions - like hurricaines - are alphabetical so effectively KitKat is 'Android K") . Android L is going to be the next version of Android. Eventually all the carriers will update our phones to "Android L" with over-the-air ("OTA") updates.

Depending on who your carrier is it is usually anywhere from a few weeks after the official release to as much as a few months. Typically Verizon is the worst about approving and pushing out updates. The Nexus phones always get the updates first.

In the default message app go to settings, then notifications and you should see a setting for pop - up display. I just stumbled across this setting looking for the led flash for notification. I'm running kit kat 4.4.2
