Hello Android users,

I'm new to the Android platform. Been with BlackBerry since 2003 and the switch has been great so far.

However, I am hitting a wall when it comes to adding a private email onto my phone. My gmail accounts synced perfectly. The message I am getting is:

"Can't set up account. The username or password is incorrect or POP3/IMAP access isn't tuned on for this account. Check your account settings or contact your service provider"

I've used the search but it seems that most questions & replies regarding this has to do with iCloud and Yahoo accounts.

The account type is IMAP and the incoming & outgoing servers are entered correctly based on email hosts instructions. Please note that this email sync smoothly with Microsoft Outlook (MS Office 365).

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Welcome to Android Central! Which email provider is it? Which email app on the phone are you using -- the Gmail app, or the stock Email app (if present)? Did you manually edit the IMAP server settings?

Hello B. Diddy,

Thanks for the welcome! It a private email with the host being Bluehost. I'm using the native/stock email app. I manually edit the IMAP server settings based on Bluehost's configurations.

I just got off of live chat with them and they believe it has to do with my service provider, AT&T. I haven't reached out to them yet. Hoping someone here had experienced this and came up with a resolution.
