So what's the verdict here?
I have the gel case (actually an after market one), the speaker dock, I'm getting a 10" carry case, the keyboard comes today and I bought a tablet stand that will fold up and fit in the case.
If you remove the tabs does the case still hold the Xoom well? Can anyone post some pics of this?
With these portfolio cases, how is it when using in the portrait position?
That's the same thing I did. It's not a perfect case, but it's VERY lightweight.i just took a hobby knife to the 2 nubs that click in to place... works great, keeping this case-
Yup ... I've got this issue. Clearly I should have finished reading the thread before posting mid-way through!!!Another thing I don't like about the case is, the way it stands up those little ridges the Xoom fits into are too slippery. They're ok if you're just watching a video but if you touch the screen at all, the Xoom slips right down happens more with the low angle setting than with the other one. I'm thinking of maybe putting a small strip of grip tape on the case to keep it from slipping

I believe you may be misunderstanding the complaints. There's only one way to insert the Xoom, so let's start there: slide the Xoom in so the camera, power button and speakers align with the cutout. This puts the Verizon label at the top edge where the restraints are deeper than the shallow restraints at the bottom edge. When the Xoom is in this position and you close the cover, the tiny tabs in the shallow restraints at the bottom edge mar the side edges of the Xoom when it "locks" into place. There is no way to slide the Xoom out of these bottom restraints, you have to fold back the cover and "pop" it out, and again, you end up marring the side edges of the Xoom. You can wipe it off with some spit or whatever you have handy, but over time it could cause the finish to wear out where the "tabs" are so tight.Just to tell you, that it is NOT made to snap into the case. It slides downward and out.

Portrait -- what portraitThe xoom for all intensive purposes - or at least how I use it is a Landscape ONLY device. 16X9 makes the Portrait a bit odd to handle - although with the Portfolio case it is not bad since you can swing the xoom out and put your hand behind the zoom and hold the case.
I don't remove my Xoom fro the case -ever. But how do you prop it up on the easel without bending back the bottom edge of the case (along the spine)? As you try to prop it up, the two tiny tabs on the inside of the restraints catch against the side of the Xoom, and leaves a mark on either side.Once it's in the case WHY are people removing it? I notice the scuff marks on the side, but not that worried about it. If it bothers me I'll buff them out. My only complaint is that they didn't put a hole for the ports on the bottom. I'm waiting for the photos to be posted of one that someone modified. I haven't taken the xoom out of the case since I got from VZW at pruchase.
