Is there any way to get this on the V30?

I love this feature in my 7+ and I saw that the Note 8 has it also.

I read that despite the 2 cameras, the V30 does not have a portrait mode.

No the v30 uses a wide angle lens so it's not possible. However, you can use an app like snapseed and use its software blur to create a similar result.

Edit: you can also download the Google pixel camera app it has a software blur feature that works pretty well.

Yeah, use manual focus/focus peeking and select what you want to focus on. Look at some of the shots in the picture thread, works great.

Awesome thanks!

I'll try this if I get to play with another demo model

I didn't see any that look like portrait mode in the thread

Maybe not the best example but I haven't messed with it much. This was with the v30 Google camera app with background blur enabled. IMG_20171013_121001.jpg

Not a bad example thanks!

Is it quick to take more pics that way or does it have the "Saving... " load screen after each one you take?

I think it's pretty fast. It seems like you can take another picture right away while the picture is still processing

@erwaso I think he meant *Google pixel camera app*

I dl the 1st app, "Open Camera".
I think that's the one we want. Idk how to use the blur effect yet though

How do you use it?
Select the lens blur when you open the camera app

The V30 has a wide angle dual camera, not the monochrome/portrait mode camera. The Google camera app has that blur effect built in and works on any phone. You can download the Google Pixel camera called CameraNX1.apk you can probably find it via Google search.

ah, thank you for clarifying flyingkytez. I'm so used to getting my apps through the play store I forgot to go that route

Well it's not compatible w/ the Moto E4 for some reason

Glad it'll work w/ the V30 though.
