Portrait dock audio out not working

I recently purchased the Samsung Galaxy siii portrait dock because I read that it worked in the follow article. However, when I dock my cdma nexus on it it iniates the clock and charges but doesn't take over the audio. There is a setting in the dock section of the phone but it is greyed out and i cant get into it. I am starting to think it is incompatible?? please help.

FYI I read in the change log for JB that one of the changes from ICS was usb dock compatibility. Hopefully this fixes it for me. If only I had JB now =\
