Tried this with Network yesterday, and it worked great. Usually I would lose 50% of battery with phone just sitting idle all night. This morning, very little battery drain and almost no time without cell service.

Just to clarify -- I see that you need to reapply this tweak after a "reboot". Does a "reboot" include a power down and power back up?

I also tried this yesterday and got great results. After 14 hours, I still had 35% battery life before turning in and rechaging the phone last night. I do have one question though, when checking my "Time without a signal" today, the option was not there. I went back into the Network app and applied the tip again as I did yesterday and now it's show the time without signal. Is this something I have to do everyday to get that percentage? I also had the same question as jlewis about the rebooting.

Two days ago I followed these instructions to switch to CDMA auto. The first night, I had almost no Time Without Service overnight, and the batter lasted quite long. Last night I had 33% Time Without Service, and more battery was used that the prior night. I never powered the phone off, and I cannot think of any changes I made during the day yesterday. I did plug it into the wall charger during the day, but actually I did not use the phone all that much.

I'm not sure what changed, but I'm a bit baffled.

ok, being the newbie that i am, when i look at battery use i only see:
android system
cell standby
display
phone idle

your screen shots also show:
mediaserver
dialer
internet

i assume mediaserver and dialer are from the market

what about internet?
but what about internet

mediaserver
dialer

my screen shots r showing actual usage:

1) internet is pretty self explanatory its used by the web browser

2) media server is music player, or atleast I only see it when I'm listening to music.

3) dialer has to do with phonecalls.

They r all native apps or processes that show up on my usage summary.

My dialer is recently taking up 90-95% of my battery over a span of 8-10 hours while only talking on it for 5-15 minutes and browsing for over 2-3 hours. What gives?

Time without Signal

Click on the cell standby time and it will bring up another screen. IN that second screen it will show you Time without signal.

Like a good many others here, I dont get any response clicking on the cell standby time or any other part of the screen to access time without signal. Wonder what gives??

My "Cell Standby" battery usage is at 42%.
I have read through this thread and several other like it and tried almost all of the suggestions...
This is after downloading the "Network" App, (my phone already said it was set to CDMA auto PRL) went through the steps anyway, select radio band and get booted back to the main screen twice and I'm still seeing almost 50% battery usage for the "Cell Standby" service..
WHAT GIVES?????
My biggest battery life increase so far has been to keep the WiFi turned off when not in use.
>>>>>Any Suggestions Appreciated

Most of these steps in this thread were heresay IMO.
I have almost none of this done and my batt life is pretty good (24hrs or so)

TWS isnt fixed by the CDMA change either from what I can see. I tried this when the phone first came out and makes 0 difference.
If you are in an area with no signal, your TWS will increase. Plain and simple

My work's building structure where my office is, is like a freaking bunker. I get little signal most of the time so my TWS goes up significantly when here. I can see sometimes %50-75% TWS.
My battery does not drain significantly from this as you would think. I am here 9 hrs a day and still get this battery life.

Sure it would prob go up if I had %0-10% TWS all the time, but Im not complaining with what I have.

My EVO is set up the same way (CDMA auto PRL) and my Time W/out Signal is 63% over 13 hours. This makes me believe most of this thread is bunk. I almost always have to charge my phone after 8-13 hours of Wake time.

Turning off the WiFi when not in use has made the biggest difference for me up to this point. Are you doing this also or leaving it on?

Hi all. New to the forum. I have unrooted HTC Evo. Trying to use these methods, but 1) can't find Network app in market, and 2) when entering *#*#4636#*#*, I don't get a testing menu, and not sure where to find "Phone Information." Can someone help me out??? Thanks!

LOVE the Evo, HATE the battery! ;)

network doesn't work I tried it and and there is nothing under menu "change preferred network or whatever" and the code doesn't work either my time without signal is 48%, wtf?

I tried the network app. My network was set to CDMA and when I tried switching it, the force close pushed me out. My TWS is %35 all the time. I think my low battery level is from always having wifi on. I'm at 12 hours with no charge and pretty heavy use. I guess that's not to bad.
