Post All Eris 2.1 Update Rumors, News, and Updates HERE

woa buddy not calling you out just sayin i would like some general idea where you got this info from if possible

i ca vouch for the guy on CB. He knew his stuff on the CB side. sorry patches but we are hoping that you have been misinformed. I am about ready to either or root or jump ship.

Good cant wait for it to roll out the youtube works on the droid eris you gotta be on wifi browser great im doing this from my eris

is it too much to ask for Verizon to give us any info at all. I realize that they said by Q1 and we have another month in that. But if the nexus comes before that, than why would we stay with the eris? I personally would not pass on the nexus for a promise of an OTA update to a slower phone.
sorry for the rant, just frustrated.

New info for 2.1 update directly from verizon ota is getting pushed out in stages

Hi yall here is a copy of email from verizon today regarding update hope this is helpful

.Dear Kimberly Redman,

Good afternoon. I'm sorry to hear that you have not received helpful information in regards to the release of a new software for the HTC Droid. My name is Terry and I am eager to assist you with your concern.

Ms. Redman, I have reviewed our software release notes and see that there is in fact a new software version for this device. It is being pushed out in stages over the air. However, it does not advise the timeframe in regards to what area will be receiving the over the air updates. At this point it is still being released and tested slowly to make sure all issues that were occurring with current software have been resolved.

It comes when it comes. No biggie. Nexus One and other phones can get 2.x first because they don't use proprietary addons.. (HTC Sense). Hence why almost every other phone is rooted quickly. You can definitely wipe out the Eris and put something else on (different rom) but then you lose the HTC Sense.

Verizon can bring the Nexus One possibly before Eris gets 2.1 because 95% of the people that are already on the Eris, will not be looking to switch phones since they've invested money into a phone and are now out of a free upgrade and probably not willing to spend $200-300 on another phone.

it will come when it comes and no sense in getting frustrated. Q1 is still here for awhile.

Yes we wont buy a new phone i love the eris sc**w n1

I agree. The eris is a great phone. The only thing the nexus1 has on it is a 1ghz processor and a bigger screen.

I hate to say it, but I'll be ready to jump ship by May. If the N1 is available, and there is still no Navigation on my phone, it's being sold. I like this phone, but I was told I would get Navigation w/o paying for VZN. I am not complaining officially until April though.

Is it just me, or are all of aqua's post in this forum bitching about the Eris and how he wants the N1? Stop complaining, dude.

And I LOVE my Eris, 2.1 would be nice but I'm good for now, still a great phone.

There is too much secrecy with this update its like having the prez over for dinner and you cant tell anyone and leaks get out any way i wish htc would give us a strait answer. great phones but too much secrecy

I really am enjoying the Eris as is, wish I could download all the apps and not find out that an app is only for 2.0 and up (urbanspoon, google earth). I am looking forward to 2.1 and because of how much I enjoy my Eris I will upgrade to the N1 when it comes out for Verizon.

I just spent $200 on my eris and I don't have an upgrade for another 1 1/2 years so I will not be gettin the n1. So I hope the upgrade comes out soon and I hope it helps the battery life

Okay so if the Eris was not tied to Verizon but worked on their network would we have to wait for Verizon to release the OS upgrade? This is one of the reasons I am willing to buy a phone directly from Google that works on Verizons network. Am I correct or not.

Someone (the manufacturer) still has to integrate the new OS with the phone itself. I imagine Vz has very little to do with this, in this case HTC did all that work and Vz is testing it so users have a good experience when it's finally rolled out.
