I received a notification on Facebook, from HTC, that the update is still pending. The notification basically said "remember that the update was promised for the 1st quarter of 2010, which extends to 31 March." So while they may not be able to tell us exactly when, it does sound like it is still a definite plan.

If you are referring to the HTC Droid Eris FB page, it says that they are not affiliated with HTC, Android or VZW.

When they say "two weeks", that means they don't know.

The way testing works is this: lab/network testing, friendly user testing...once it passes both they release it usually within 48 hours.

So only the people who are testing know when the testing period ends. That's all that's really for sure. Anything else as far as release dates are up in the air until it passes testing and is approved for release.

Summary of my rant: anything more than 2 or 3 days notice is speculation, 99.5% of the time

Have to agree, since thats about the time period the employees get as far as warning of new releases of this are concerned. Pretty much pumped for the release though

having problems with e-mail downloading to my phone.....on the phone with a verizon tech yesterday who on his own told me there is a 2.0 update coming next month that might fix my problem....said they are trying to fix the complaints there getting from customers with this update.....didn't say exactly when just said next month

choice quote about the updated HTC Sense UI on a few of the beautiful phones HTC unveiled:

"Also, the new HTC Sense will be available in some of our existing products, like the Hero. Our current customers will get to experience those features."

I'm inferring that they will also be upgrading our dear Droid Eris as well to include at least some of the cool things they introduced to Sense.

So, we don't know when (though Q1 was promised earlier for the eris), but we know we are getting 2.1 with Sense.

We are only half way through the quarter as of this weekend. They still have a month and a half to meet their target. So, no big deal on it coming out or not, yet...

Just wanna confirm that VZW has 2.1 for the eris in friendly user testing, so theyre still on schedule to get it out before end of Q1. I'll keep everyone posted as things progress.

Actually I got the update this morning. It took quite a lot of of time. It includes Android 2.1 but not the Sense UI update. The new UI is much more responsive, however be careful, it will simply erase all your data on the phone. With no warning... You'll have to run the setup wizard again, which is really a shame.

According to HTC's tweet from yesterday, yes, Eclair with Sense.

But there can't be an update if it hasn't passed testing yet.

2.1 On The Horizon?

Well Engadget has posted an image of a HTC Droid Eris running 2.1 that apparently was updated via an OTA update. (Some Droid Eris owners getting Android 2.1 update? -- Engadget) This seems pretty sweet for all you Eris owners that have stuck it out and not jumped ship to the Droid to get the Android 2.0.

Could it really be true, could the Eris get 2.1 love before the Motorola Droid does?

What do you guys think?
