First post here, been using this thread to keep tabs, figured I'd contribute in return. Just got this e-mail back today from VZW in regarding 2.1 OTA.

I just got off of the phone with a VZW rep and he said the exact same thing word for word.....They must have a script. He added that The Droid just got the update and it was scheduled for the beginning of March, so it could be any day...

I think he was just saying how compared to all his previous phones the Eris is the best, although he really wants to 2.1 update to come out asap. Just cause he likes the phone doesn't mean he's not excited for the 2.1 release...

That seems a little encouraging. We might actually see this update soon.

Taking the file off your SD card will simply free up memory on the card. Unless you rooted you're stuck until the official update.

Yeah, an office memo probably went around instructing all the representatives how to handle the bombardments from people like us lol. Hopefully it comes soon, I want the extra quickness.

I'm betting that they'll start pushing the Eris update the day or day after they finish pushing the Droid update out.(Hence why he said "in the next couple of weeks")

I've tried to load a newer Rom but its a little more complicated than they make it seem in the how to. I'm not really computer savvy.

me too. im not sure what i have to do. i think you have to do all the other steps using a computer to get other ones.

i got my phone rooted, but i would like to use some of the other roms but i have a mac. any instructions i have found are only for windows.

Yeah, but just be careful. Putting too many roms on your phone could brick it, so don't go wild.

alright, i wont. i really just want to try the evil eris one.. i just dont know ow to get it to work.
