Post OTA Battery Life Issue Under Investigation by HTC

I have not even gotten the update yet. I was checking alot. Would it be better just to wait at this point?

My Battery life is much better after OTA! I actually got 13 hrs with 25% left when I got off work before putting it in the car mount, and using Navigation it went right to it, no searching for GPS!! No reboots have happened to me. I am happy with the update! Sorry others are having problems :(

Good to hear!

Believe it or not, I have not actually been hearing that much about the Thunderbolt since I've been back at work today... Strangely, today was an Apple day. Don't even get me started. Lol

I lost 4G connection yesterday. Had to reboot to restore it. First time that ever happened to me. Not sure if battery life is worse, but it might be.

My battery life is worse. The day before the update I had it up for 23 hrs and had 32% left. Didn't change a thing but the update and with similar usage im at 32% after 13 hrs. not cool. We can hope for a fix but i doubt anything will happen anytime soon. Think I should call in and report this or just wait?

On days my battery life is bad, it is generally because one application is stuck syncing. Maybe the update broke an application or two, and the folks who are having bad battery life are the victims of those application problems?

My Thunderbolt has the reboot issue since the update. And the battery is alot worse. I do have the extended battery but havent tryed it yet with the update. This is a really nice phone if HTC could just get the bugs fixed especially with the battery.

Same here. 2 random reboots in various apps and horrid battery life since the update. So frustrating having this great technology with bugs. HTC, please fix!

After installing the update my battery life looked like it improved as battery drain at my office was significantly slower.

Yesterday I lost 40% in just over 3 hours so I had to put it on the charger. When I left work phone was at 70% and 4 hours later down to 16% with no use.

Since the update my phone randomly opens the news widget; I think it's continually synching and killing the battery. Last weekend the Blockbuster app updated itself (I did the Blockbuster fix right after I got the phone) and had 100% battery drain in just over 4 hours so I did the fix again and everything was fine until the OTA.

I'm going to root when I see there's a post-OTA root process stabilized. If nothing else I want the bloatware gone to prevent a recurrence of the Blockbuster update but also look into using SetCPU to extend battery life.

UPDATE: Off charger for 1 hour and lost 25%. Something broke with the OTA.

I just got off the phone with Verizon Customer Service regarding the battery life since the upgrade, and the representative told me she had received numerous calls about this and that there was actually a note in their system saying that HTC has begun investigating the issue.

She said the only two things that popped up in the system other than that were to purchase an extended battery or try a hard reset, but she said the reset was at my discretion and I may want to hold out and see what occurs from the investigation.

From what the representative told me ,it seems to be hit or miss on people having problems with the battery life, but she has gotten many more people complaining that the life has been atrocious instead of seeing no change or an improvement.

So, here's to hoping what the representative actually told me is true....and hopefully we'll hear something regarding this shortly. Has anyone else heard anything similar?
I would not be a bit surprised if she was not looking at any notes at all when she told you that. That seems to be a standard reply when we are not pleased with something. They reply that HTC is looking into it, thus enabling them to get off the phone.:-\

Yesterday the day after I got OTA my battery life went down drastically. I had only 32% remaining at about 6:30 pm and I have not changed the way I use the phone, mainly moderate use throughout the course of a day. Before the update, around that same time, I had anywhere between 50% - 63% remaining. What has the update done to battery life? Also, now when using the LTE switch app, it takes forever for it to change from 3G to 4G, it seems to want to stay in 3G and I'm in a strong 4G footprint in Orlando FL.

Well I haven't gotten the update yet but I've been running the leaked version and my battery life has been great, I get about 8 to 12 hours of daily use.

With all this issues I don't think I'll upgrade until they fix the bugs.

Im in the HORRIBLE battery life department... off the charger for 3 hours with light talking use... 30% left...!!!!!!!!!

WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED? My battery life used to be tolerable, but now I can't go more than a few hours without recharging. This is a disaster. I wish I could go back. Might have to start thinking about rooting.

I think I may have discovered the issue. My battery was draining like crazy, but I just turned off the GPS manually and I think that has slowed down the battery usage. I know that this update included a GPS fix and I'm wondering if that fix did something to keep the GPS on permanently even when you're not using an app that requires it. Try it out and post your results.

Not touching the OTA with a ten foot poll

I running CM7 Pre Alpha. I bought the extended battery. Minor glitches with ROM (but its a Pre Alpha). Otherwise a daily driver for me. I have seen waaayyy to many posts about issues with the new OTA update, So as my title says, I'm not touching it with a ten foot poll.

Battery life is not great....but gets me through the day with my extended battery. Waiting for some wicked smart devs to fix the issue.....and no Im not talking about HTC or Verizon.:D

This phone is a joke as is Verizon and HTC, if it wasn't for the large screen I would have thrown mine against a wall. Now Verizon is sending me my second one because amongst the poor battery life it wont toggle between 4g and 3g, which means most of the time I get nothing. I am curious to see if the Droid Charge will be plagued with the same battery issues due to 4G. My guess is that Samsung already has addressed this and you can bet it will be a better phone.

It's a conspiracy to sell more extended batteries! ;P
