Tried the LauncherPro Plus (paid unlock of the free version). Caused some weirdness after installed. I would advise folks to clear off their home screens before loading the LP+. It zaps whatever was there anyway, but in fact, the original screens aren't gone. They re-appear if you uninstall LP+.

When LP+ is added, some of the widgets don't work right or are extremely slow - for example the Moto widget "Contact quick tasks", which I use for all family members. I'd guess the fact there were a bunch of these on my original home screens and then another bunch added to the LP+ home screens caused conflicts.

Ultimately, I uninstalled LP+ (sadly, I have to add). Loved the 15-icon revolving dock and all the customization that was possible, including the number of home screens. Might try again later, but if I do, it will be with clean home screens to start. Hopefully, this will make a difference. Otherwise, though, the app functioned very well.

Also, the app Extended Controls has been absolutely terrific! I built two 1x4 strips with all sorts of handy customizations and used the colorful Moto widgets for the basics: Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS and Airplane mode. Now using a whole screen as a "control panel."

If anyone finds a screenshot app, please post. There are several for the BlackBerries, but so far as I can see, none for the DX.

This may sound silly but how do I use the sdk? I also came from Blackberry and have no clue what you mean but would also like to learn how to take screen caps unrooted.

Connect your phone to the computer and make sure debugging is on. Go to SDK. Go to Tools Folder. Click on DDMS and wait for it to open. When it opens, click on the line showing the device in the DDMS screen then you'll see some stuff load in the bottom half of the screen. Then look in the top menus for screen capture.

for those of you who have photo widget's on your screens....how did you get them to be so clear??? every time i try to add a photo widget its either very grainy or im unable to crop the picture frame so the whole photo fits in the frame. thanks in advance.

@46caliber - I'm new to Android and have recently transitioned from the Droid Eris to the X. Looking for a better launcher/home screen and noticed you like ADW.Launcher....but I believe the DX are running 2.1 and Appbrain is indicating ADW is only available for 2.2 devices. Do you have a different version?

Just search the market for "ADW," it will come up.

I keep flipping back and forth between ADW and LP+. There are a couple of things ADW has that I like a lot, and same for LP+. I wish I could combine them.

instead of attaching images, upload the pics to a photosharing site, like picasa or flickr, and use "insert image" and then just copy/paste the image url

Also you can attach the file and then link the "insert image" option in post to that image and it will be large as well if you do not have a photo sharing account setup. I do it all the time as well...

i'm using ^3 for my music player and the theme for launcher pro is a combination of a dock i found on their forums (LauncherPro ?) and a text icon pack i found on deviant art. (deviantART: where ART meets application!) if you can't find them, let me know and i can zip it up and get you the files.
