Hello fine folk of AC!
I write with what appears to be a common problem among those of us who own a Galaxy S3. After 2.5 years of daily use, the power button is no longer working as it should. The symptoms are as follows:
a) the power button is ultra sensitive. I can literally just run my finger over the side of the phone and it registers as a 'push'. When I have the phone on my pocket it reboots often, as any slight rubbing against the button registers as a push.
b) when I do actually push the button, it often registers as a double push, meaning that I have to push it several times for the screen to actually stay off. An exercise in frustration, if you ask me.
I bought the phone in Canada, but currently reside in Norway. As a result, both Samsung Canada and Samsung Norway are treating me as an unwanted child. Every time I call, they say it is the other who ought to deal with me. Last time I called, Samsung Norway said that they might be willing to help me just this once, but I'd cost $100 for them to diagnose the problem.
Instead, I have taken the phone into a 3rd party shop to have the power button and the power switch replaced. Based on everything I've read online, this should have been the cause of the problem. However, the issue persists despite these two brand new parts.
So, good people of AC, what should be my next step?
Thanks in advance!
