Pre-ordering with Best Buy

Wait it out, make copies of your preorder paperwork start a dialogue with samsung and if best buy does cancel see if Samsung will still honor the preorder!

Whew. This was an adventure. But I'm always at Best Buy a minimum of 2 hrs with a new phone.

So I get there around 10:30. Second one at the counter. I see the same girl I always deal with so we exchange pleasantries. And thus the problems began.

So the trade in that I pre-registered didn't show up so she had to resubmit (everyone was having that problem).
She goes to activate and they can't activate me because I have a grandfathered plan on AT&T. So anyone with an older plan looking to hold on, you can't. The phone can't even be activated unless you switch therefore forcing you to give up your old plan. Luckily I had called before I pre-ordered to inquire about the plans they had so she was able to switch it on her end. She gave me an even lower rate than the guy at the loyalty department I spoke with. So i'm like proceed with the switch.

This is where is gets funny. So they can't even do the activation because when unpacking the boxes an employee attached new sim cards when AT&T already shipped one in the box. So the sim cards associated with all the phones are the wrong ones. So she couldn't even activate. Everyone was having this problem.

So she swaps it out. And proceeds to activate. So in the meantime I ask her to do the smart switch while i wait. So she tries wifi but i knew that would take too long as I have a lot of data (already backed up what I could on my SD card and had a backup Smart Switch at home just in case but i had msgs coming in the meantime so I figured do the smart switch in store). So they switch to the cable and couldn't get the smart switch to work. So i'm like yeah get this sorted out in store so I know it's not a problem with my phone.

So finally after multiple attempts the switch is working. So now the big fun. Going to activate and of course the dreaded AT&T and Sprint glitch that folks were having where they were on hold for hours. So I braced myself. As this was a nationwide problem, another employee is like our hands are tied. It's something the customer has to call AT&T to sort out and they will be sending me an email.

Now when I first got there I asked if I could just swap my old sim into the new one and was told they have to install the new card. But after being there for over 2 hours she said, bump this. Since there's a problem with the sim card and the wrong sims associated with the packing, lemme pull her old card out. So she swaps my old card and bam....service. She said, after you being here and you always being here, I wasn't gonna send you home to be on hold with no service. While the other AT&T and Sprint customers waited with their problems with activation.

Arrival at best buy: 10:30 am. Departure 1:55 pm and now i'm home to bond with my Aura Glow beauty. Sigh....it's always something lol.

I have Sprint, and a grandfathered plan. Went in to Best Buy with my Note 10+ to activate it and incountered the problem that it won't activate with my current plan. Well the gentleman helping me says to just let him check one thing. He found that if you have total protect, an older Asurian insurance app on your phone, it won't activate. He deleted that and it activated with no problem. I'm just glad it wasn't any worse than that.

The carriers control retail unit allocations. I preordered the N9 512 for Verizon and I gave up and got an unlocked. Took almost two months for Verizon to allow stock of many 512 versions. Even they didn't have them at many stores.

What color your changing to

i am not sure I am changing. I ordered the aura glow but am perfectly fine with the black or white version. I was just wondering what exactly would change if i did walk in and cancel my preorder and trade my phone in. Would I still get the $600 trade in for my phone?

I am more worried about the trade in value than the $150 samsung credit. It's nice to have but there really isn't much i want to buy with it anyway. So if i can keep the same trade in value i will just switch

Man I'm bummed reading all of the horror stories and issues people are having. When I picked mine up they were having issues with ATT activations but my Verizon was fine. The 1st boot said it couldn't be activated and to call tech support but we power cycled the phone and then it worked fine.

I hope everyone gets their issues resolved quickly so they can enjoy their devices.

I had activation issues initially. After trying activation it said it was having issues and to call customer support.
I then turned my note 8 on, then the note 10+ said it had been activated.

My trade in value didn't change. It was still 600. I went in asked if they have any in stock. They said Blue only. They Cancelled my preorder. The trade in value won't change. You just won't get the credit from Samsung for free stuff.

I just talked to the BB that I ordered from and I am not sure what to do...
The Blue (mine) is now back-ordered until Sept 6th.
The Manager checked IL, MN, IN, and WI... All of them come up with a pick-up date of Sept 6th...
Then she looked up the other colors and it seems all the other colors backorder dates are between Aug 27th - Aug 30.
The Glow I ordered for my MIL was ready yesterday but I opted to pick them up together since she is out of town...

I am so conflicted... I have my Note 9 and I can wait it out to get the 10+ (in blue or sooner for another color) On the other hand, It sucks to pre-order it with a delivery date of Aug 23 only to be told you have to wait 2 weeks.

UGH!!!

Nope. Never had that app. My old plan was just costing too much for 2 lines so I had already made the decision to switch it. I'm mostly on wifi anyway and I still have unlimited anyway. Just crazy they try to get you if you didn't want to switch.

I would just wait it out and get what you want even though its frustrating.

Awesome thank you. Heading to the store now. Appreciate the feedback

The minimum wait for the credit is two weeks. This is to clear the device return window, since the retailers have no way to manage the $150 credit. Anyone that got credit already is lucky.

As far as activation issues, I had none with my Verizon N10+ at BB.

LOL! I'm a former Marine and got the pink N9 last year- I called it Prince Purple. My preorder from Verizon for a blue 512 model was not expected in September, so I got the only N9 512 available- pink.

I put a case on mine anyway, since gravity is unforgiving and these devices are crack magnets.

I just got back from visiting my local Best Buy. While I was there I talked to the manager and started asking her about what launch day issues they we're running into. Her reply was that they did have a few issues with some customer activations, three or four in total (ATT and T Mobile only). She was very pleased on how launch day went. My Note10+ is due to be picked up on or near the 30th. Fingers crossed all goes well for me on or near the 30th.

LOL My Note 9 (512) is also the "purple" and I have always said it was pink!! I embraced the color (and I am NOT a pink person!! LOL) and put a nice clear case on it.

As of now I am holding my breath and just going to wait it out for the Blue!

So a little update. Went to BB. cancelled my aura glow. They had a black one in stock. canceled my preorder and got the black version. The only thing he had to do was call verizon to reactivate my line for an upgrade because of the preorder. refunded the taxes i paid and i had to repay them. He told me that i would lose the $150 samsung credit, however, he said some people have kept their receipt from the canceled preorder. He said they then used that order number and were still able to redeem the samsung credit. Idk if that will work but it is worth a shot. Glad i decided to just go to the store. The part that took the longest was transferring my stuff from iOS to android. other than that it was a very easy process.

i did that with my pre-order. I cancelled it because I wasn't getting any updates and it never shipped. So i went to Sprint and picked up a N10+. Got home, took a screenshot of my original pre-order receipt, logged into the Samsung Shop on the new N10+...registered for the promotion and attached the screenshot to it. it got approved today :)

It's so beautiful!
