NYC? Hey, you have a trump card (no pun intended) that you can play: Tell them you're one of the Occupy movement's organizers, and if you don't get your phone Thursday morning smelly protesters will camp out in their store.

Anywhere else, and that threat would be very hollow, lol...

How much more confirmation do you need??? I posted this & had it verified.....Atleast in Memphis, they will be released on 12/8

How much more? There are now 80 posts in the thread and what 3 people have been told they can buy one Thursday? All the rest say Friday or they don't have a release date yet! Nobody is saying you are lying, but for everybody else they can not get one on Thursday.

I guess if you go by the title of your post, you can truly confirm it on Thursday, no way anybody else can confirm it until then. For you I hope it is true.

Called verizon rep today, he said it is coming very soon but does not have a specific date yet. He's gonna call me when he finds something out though. So that was nice of him

Stopped into a Verizon "Authorized Reseller" store today on my lunch break (I work in Chicago's Loop) and the guy told me that I could get a GNex on Friday at 9am (opening). I specifically asked if they typically get their new phones the same day as the corporate stores and he said yes they always do.

Take that for what it's worth but I know where I'll be on Friday morning unless I hear of another place selling it Thursday.

Called one in Hazlet, NJ (down the shore) near my office...tight lipped too, but also said to call on Thursday....

Had the wife stop by the local corporate store. They were very nice and said it is supposed to launch on Thursday, but may not. Said it is possible it may not launch until next week, but she thinks Thursday.

I am convinced they really don't know, but the Verizon rumor mill has it as Thursday, and they are awaiting authorization. The real question will be who is first on here to have one, activated, on their line, in their hot little hands!

went to a store in richmond, va on monday and the woman there said that they did in fact have accessories, and she was almost certain that they would be releasing the phone at the end of the week. she then took my name down and said she would call as soon as she knew anything.

Why don't you post your profile pic as an attachment so we can all see what is says? Not doubting you, but most seem to think preorders just arent happening.

Just stopped by my local store in Mesa, AZ. "I don't have any information on that phone." "I only know what I've read online." The rep eventually broke down and said he could only speak in hypotheticals, but that there was no preorder planned and that the VZWGN should go on sale Friday morning. Corporate was also not allowing them to hold any units. He said they sometimes hold at launch but that this situation was very different for some reason that he was not aware of. I told him I was concerned about how much stock they would have - 15 units per store was on one of the recent leaks. He smiled and said "I wouldn't worry about that" I take that to mean that the store already has its stock as of today and that its more than 15 units. "We had 150 or so Razrs on launch and they didn't sell out immediately. Get here Friday morning and I don't think you'll have a problem."

I live in Des Moines, Iowa & I've called all of the corporate stores in my area, which there are 5 and none of them are releasing any of the information on when it's coming. I even let them know I read online that other corporate stores are allowing customers to purchase the phones on Thursday and all they are saying that I can give my info & they'll call me once they know. So I think that's why a lot of people need the reassurance not all stores are letting customers know.

i just called my local verizon corp. store (greenville, sc) the rep told me that they were expected to go on sale fri morn, that they didnt have any on hand as of yet and asked for my contact info to give me a call when they knew more.

Friday morning is when my store will released it. I've gotten a call and i called back today and same story.

Friday but if you gets get it Thursday thn good.

So coming home from a rotation today I passed 3 verizon stores. I'm not sure if the ones I pass are corporate or not but I went ahead and stopped in just to see if they were displaying any demos. One of the sales guys approaches me and I asked him about the GN and he hasn't even heard of it..lol. So then I hear a voice from the back of the store from another sales person. She asks me if I'm talking about the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and I told her yes. She then tells me what I already heard from the other store that put one on hold for me....that they will be out Friday the 9th. I thank her and as I'm about to leave the original sales person asks me to tell him about the Galaxy Nexus...lol...so I helped him out a bit on it...lol

So this is like 3 stores near me (Tampa, Fl) that are saying the phone will be in Friday.....seems very promising.

ill be there Friday. 5-10 days is too long to ship when you can run to a store.
I called again and the rep was uhhhhh then he said let me check and said oh they told me Friday and i was hey can I buy it on Thursday. No lol.

During my lunch I drove over to my local store and spoke to the manager. He claimed to have absolutely zero information. I asked if I could put my name down for a "per-order" so that when the phone came out one would be waiting for me. He said that they don't do per-orders and doesn't think there will be much demand for the phone. So we talked for a bit and said if I was at the store about a half hour before opening then I would have a good chance of getting one. So I asked why so early if there wasn't demand for the phone?

I stopped at a corp store in the mall here this afternoon and guy there basically said the same thing about "zero information" on it, claimed they hadn't gotten anything at all. Said that if it was going to be released on Thursday of this week (or Friday even) he would have expected to have info at this point. Asked about accessories and they only have cases and screen protectors at this point. Personally, I think he was full of it.....the guys at this same store have been jerks when I've been in there in the past.

My question on your experience.....if the manager you talked to had "zero information" about the phone, why would he tell you to be at the store a half hour early to have a good chance of getting one?!? What day would you go there that early?? Every day from now until it actually releases?!?

Why do they insist on playing these "we don't know anything" games?

I don't understand what good it does in not saying anything about the phone at this point. Especially since they're not doing much advertising for it.

And none of them are going to tell you because they are around other employees and will get in trouble so you are just wasting your time by asking when its for sale

.....because it's like a matter of national security or something?!? And don't read this like I'm getting all worked up about this....not the case at all. I just don't really see what the big deal is about letting people know when a product will be available if they actually do know the details. If the really DON'T know, then so be it but if the know and are being so tight lipped about it.....guess I just don't understand the reason why.

Guess that means you would have called the store that I stopped into then since we're in the same area....
