The press release will be an email from Verizon sent on Friday morning. It will read as follows: "The G-Nex (yes, we called it the G-Nex) is now available. Stop reading this email and go buy it. Thanks for waiting through all of our unofficial rumored delays. Happy Holidays!"
For what it's worth...Just called the corporate store near me. Confirmed availability for Friday.

FWIW - Tried calling one of the corp stores here in Winter Haven, FL and she said 'That phone isnt available yet.' I said I know, will it be Friday though? Again she said, 'There isnt a date for it yet.'

I'm not doubting that the OP may be getting his on Thur, but I just got back from my corp store (in person) and they said Friday for sure. I said can I put one on hold. He said no, but made a 0900 appointment for me on Friday morning. I told him there was forum chatter saying that some people had store reps tell them it would be available on Thur. Asked if there was any chance that could happen. He said no way..Friday morning.

Its gonna be a quite release I'm sure. They got too many Droid lines coming out. Tablets. Droid 4 and even a white razr so. I'm sure nexus will be over drown by droids buuut I don't care as long as I have mine.

The corporate store I went to today after work was swarming with reps for some reason....hmmm. But only a few customers. 5 of the reps (and what appeared to be the Manager/DM) were standing around the check-in kiosk. I aksed the first guy who looked up if they were taking names down for a wait list for the Galaxy Nexus. And....oh boy:
Rep - "Uh, (nervous and shocked by my request) no. Um, there's no release date yet for that, we don't know anything yet. (He looked like a deer in the headlights. Scared to death. lol)
Me - "Oh, really?"
Rep - "Yeah, we don't have a set date yet or know anything about pre-orders." (I didn't ask about pre-orders. Odd)
Me - "Can I at least be put on some kind of list for you to call when you do get them in or know more about it?"
Rep - "Yeah, let me get your name and number down."
As he did this, he was more nervous than anyone I have ever encountered in my life. He kept stammering. It was cute.
As I left I said, "Thanks! See you Friday!"

called the store i used to work at, guy I'm good with confirmed the 9th. Said he was playing with one as we were on the phone. Also said inventory came in. Ill be there on my lunch break on Friday lol.

i just set my appointment with best buy mobile to recieve my galaxy nexus. the lady at best buy mobile said it was the only way to guarantee me a phone. and she said she was 100% positive i could get the phone thursday the 8th. im soooo excited..oh yes. bye bye og droid!

So I called my verizon store here in Westlake Village, CA and I told him I was due for an upgrade. I specifically asked when I would be able to buy the Galaxy Nexus and he said they were told the 8th. Just to make sure, I said "so I can come in on thur and buy the phone" and he said yes, but to call tomorrow and make sure. I asked if I would be able to reserve one and he said they should have a lot in stock...just come in the morning.
Just thought I'd share with you guys. I'm not exactly sure why people at getting different answers on when they could get the phone (8th or 9th), but maybe it has to do with the locations and shipments.

i just got off the phone with best buy mobile. i will recieve my galaxy nexus on thursday dec. 8 at 4:15pm. its set in stone the rep said. she also told me that an appt was the only way to "reserve" one. im also the first to get an appt.

Just called a local Best Buy. Asked about the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and the guy said "you mean the Nexus Prime?" And I said "um.. sure. Are you selling it this week?" Guy- "Yeah." (someone comes over and talks to him) "Actually, we were just told that we are selling it by the end of the year." Hahahaa. No luck for me.

Hi everyone, I want to my Verizon store that I think is a flagship store for my area. When I asked the guy that does the check in about any word about when I can get the nexus. He told me that they don't know when that phone comes out. When I said I heard it comes out on Friday (9th). He started looking around moving his head and not even making eye contact with me. I know he was lying becouse of that.

Staples is getting it. The GM said be will give me my ne2 along with their 50.00 coupon so I would get it for 200.00. Have dou bts though because of all these small leaks about the quirks of the device.
