Up until this point, Sprint usually announces a new phone 2 weeks prior to its' release.

They may be waiting for the winners of the DataStorm contest to be pulled and then make the annoucement then.
Per the official rules, the winners will be pulled "on or about April 16th" and that is next Monday.

Oh well. Just gotta wait some more.

The Nexus S was announced on April 26th, 2011 and released May 8th, 2011. (12 days)

Not sure where you got 2 weeks, but I don't think there's some formular that they're constantly using.

If the release date is April 22nd, then yeah it should be soon, but 2 weeks would have been yesterday.

Hell, if we're going by last year, then it would be announced tomorrow, seeing as that's 12 days before April 22nd.

But hey, the day is not over.

I looked into the 2100mAh battery as well. I haven't tried the Active case on a phone using the 2100, but did try it on a GSM and VZW version of the phone. The case was designed for the GSM phone, but fits(very snug) on the VZW GNex with standard 1850mAh battery, as that version is only thicker by 1mm. As much as I would like it to fit with 2100, I don't think it will quite make it. Time will tell.
I at least hope the Sprint Gnex has the same 1850 battery as the Verizon version.

I'm trying to think of a really strong reason to do so. The potential for timely updates just doesn't seem enough. Especially since devs are going to custom rom the hell out of the EVO LTE

I agree with you. The upgrade challenges with the nexus s has left me with a very bad taste in the mouth. We can't assume that nexus devices will definitely be upgrade as soon as possible. Sad

I agree with you. The upgrade challenges with the nexus s has left me with a very bad taste in the mouth. We can't assume that nexus devices will definitely be upgrade as soon as possible. Sad

If Google's mobile division has an ounce of sense, they'll have learned a few things from all this and will presumably perform much better updating the Galaxy Nexus to Jelly Bean. Obviously, it will be harder to upgrade Sprint's and Verizon's CDMA versions than the GSM version, but they'll need to save face after this whole Nexus S debacle.
Side note: I've heard that the Nexus S 4G ICS update has started to roll out. I know some of you have one; any news on that front?

No. Setting up root in your ROM merely enables apps to be granted root access if they request it. You still have to approve the request through the Superuser front-end.

I am a iPhone user for the past 4 years and also an Android user since last year. Love the flexibility in the android platform. I am a multi device user. My second device is a Galaxy Note but i am planning to move to Sprint to get unlimited data!!
After using LTE you realize the importance of unlimited data, believe me..

Do you guys think the reason we don't have any official info on the release date, is because Sprint is going to sell it just for a niche crowd...namely us. With the impending release of the EVO LTE, I do believe most people are going to get it instead instead of the Nexus. Thoughts?
