I'm sorry...

I've never pre-odered a phone before, and I just want to add another line to an account (my Dad's), so I can have the Nexus.

How do you go about doing that?

Log into My Verizon and click the link for add a line OR shop for the device and when you add it to your cart it should prompt you to log in and follow the prompts.

If the email sign up works like it did for the Razor, then whoever signed up will get an email the day before pre-orders start. I got an email telling me that I will be able to pre-order the razor tomorrow back when it first became available, so I am expecting something similar for the GN.

You guys do realize that VZW doesn't have a web chat. At least not one I've ever seen. Can't find anything on my account page at a quick glance either. The only options they give you to contact them is either by email or phone.

Yes, they do have a webchat. Click on the upgrade button and there is an option to call or chat.

There very well could be a pre-order given the hype surrounding the phone. But it would be formally announced beforehand if there were one. It wouldn't just randomly start at 1 AM on a random day, unannounced. That's just not how Verizon rolls.

Ive been talking with Kristopher for 15 mins trying to squeeze ever ounce of info out of him. Its been pretty comical. "Kristopher: There's no official word as to when. But when it does, you can click on the chat help button and one of our reps will walk you through the preordering process."

I got him to agree to stay online with me until 2 am eastern with regards to preodering the device but after that he will d/c hah. I need help due to my upgrade being messed up

Wow I just signed into My Verizon to see if it was updated yet and I found a little surprise... It says my line has an upgrade available on 7/22/12 (same thing it has always said) but says "Eligible for discount! You are eligible to upgrade with discounted pricing. If you upgrade on or after 7/22/12 you are eligible to receive an additional loyalty discount."

Not having to buy the Nexus at full retail will lessen the dent in my wallet especially after pre-ordering the Transformer Prime lol

Crossing my fingers that I can preorder the Nexus very soon tonight!

I'm curious how this works...if it says on or AFTER 7/22/12...how does that help you tonight--or any time before that date?

None of the reps probably will tell you anything before the official word comes down from corporate and they are open eastern time (in Georgia).

Unless they have pre-planned something on the site I wouldn't get my hopes up til tomorrow.

Well I am too because it caught me off guard... It helps me out tonight (or whenever the phone goes out) because when I go to upgrade that line, it's giving me the option purchase any phone at the discounted 2 year price (ie: droid razr for $249, btw which I thought was $299?) Anyways, it says if I upgrade on or after 7/22/12 (maybe by saving the upgrade) it says they'll give me an ADDITIONAL loyalty discount (perhaps to use on one of my other lines)... so maybe this is some kind of loyalty discount??

Did you sign a one-year contract? That would make sense. Otherwise you would have to pay full price to upgrade that line.

I called and talked to a CSR a few weeks ago to find out my upgrade options (and to try to cajole them into letting me upgrade early). My contract date is 7/9/12 and she (nicely) said 'no dice'. A few days later, my line showed upgrade pricing, just like yours. Not sure if the two are connected, and I sure as hell am not going to ask!
