Pretty close to sending pixel back

But none of you Pixel owners ha SW had a noise or rattle around the camera or top part?

Popkum Pixel aside would you get a S7 Edge if you didn't have one or the V20. I had the S7 Edge liked it. I get bored easy and Jump phones every 2 months. So I don't know. Pixel XL again and hope there is no rattle or S7 Edge or V20 or even back to the OP3 that I loved

Any other Chinese manufacturer that but is awesome and not much more in price than the One Plus?

Thanks Everyone

Blame AT&T??? What does at&t have to do with paying this much for a phone labels as top tier, that doesn't necessarily meet the criteria for me at this point? I think you misunderstand? Wifi calling on samsung and at&t lets me shut down or loose data and still make a wifi call. Try turning on airplane mode and then turn on wifi and try to make a call with your pixel on fi. Let me know how that works. In my case, it doesn't. And when I call fi support, there answer is usually, is the setting on? Restart. Re activate fi. Do a restore/reset.

I am saying on an unlocked phone T-Mobile and Verizon work for HD voice, VoLTE, wifi calling, etc. AT&T purposely doesn't because they can't put their bloat on it so therefore they don't want to play game.

That's what I was commenting on. I can turn on airplane mode and make wifi calls just fine via my T-Mobile connection. I can do it once home tonight if you want.
Home now. Airplane mode on. Fired up wifi and let T-Mobile WiFi calling connect... Made calls without issue. Screenshot below.

I have the camera rattle too if I shake it. But u will say this...I have not returned my Note 7 yet and not sure that I will. Having said that, I've had my Pixel XL tomorrow will be 2 weeks. I out my SIM in my N7 for about 30 mins tonight and before the Pixel, I thought the N7 was best phone on the planet. But you realize how laggy it really is after having used the Pixel. I'm keeping my Pixel XL and will keep my fingers crossed that Google fixes the issues we have with BT and not connecting in our cars.

I feel like I'm a beta tester for google sometimes. Had the pixel for 4 days now. Running into a lot of issues. I use the phone on fi network. That's where the beginning of the issues started. When I'm connected to t-mobile everything seems fine. When it connects to sprint, the phone thinks I'm from pasadena, ca when I'm in missouri. So local calls require 10 digits or you get someone in california. US cellular, forget it, I get a recording from verizon about can't make a call and it hangs up. No data is usable. I've called and chatted with fi support numerous times and they have been no help in sorting this issue out. It was escaled last thursday, but as of yet haven't heard anything back. Way too long a time.

As to the phone there are numerous things wrong. Again, I use fi. Based on using wifi and cell coverage. I can sit 10 feet from several routers and can't make a wifi call. On a samsung (at&t), I can turn on airplane mode and then turn wifi on and make calls all day with wifi calling. With the pixel, if I do that, the phone will just sit there saying dialing and never make a call. This happens in our work building at times because depending on where I'm at there I might not have a cell signal, but good wifi. No incoming or outgoing calls until I get a cell signal back. For a phone and network that pushes wifi calling, this is not good.

Many other smaller issues. Pulse notification light does not work for most anything but texts. No light for missed calls. No light for voicemails. No light for emails I've asked for notification on. This would be livable except that ambient display doesn't work except when you actually receive the item that's set to notify you. It doesn't work when you pick up or tilt the phone up like my nexus did. You basically have to open the phone or push the power button. Hell, even the iphone has this beat now.

There are a few more things and I could go on, but this is getting long enough. For a phone at this cost point and using googles own service, this shouldn't be happening. Again, I feel like I'm paying google to be a beta tester for things that all worked on a nexus 5x. It might be different on verizon, but for thing other than fi related, I doubt it. Besides venting on my part, is anyone else seeing any of these things, or maybe some I've missed since I've only had 4 days with it? I want to like this phone, but too much seems missing and not working quite right with only a promise from google that they're working on things.

As i posted in another part of these forums, my galaxy S7 edge and axon 7 have it all over the pixel. Rippoff

There are a lot of devices that have features over the Pixel. But it was the experience Google was selling. It was supposed to be similar to an iPhone but just running stock Android.

I believe you. It's sad that googles own service doesn't do this. I get the same screen saying calling via whatever wifi I'm on. But it just sits there never making the call. It is good to know it can be done on the pixel though. Just not through googles own service. There is some of my problem with the phone and their service. If that was the only issue, it might make a difference. Maybe the phone is part of the problem given the other issues I'm having.

Some of what you are reporting are network issues (not Fi, but carriers) and should not be blamed on the phone. Sprint, for example, in so far as I know requires 10-digit dialing nationwide. For sure, when I had Sprint here in Connecticut, if I tried to dial 7-digits, the call would always fail. In fact, I thought all carriers required 10-digit dialing; I am surprised to hear that you have been able to avoid it thus far... All of my contacts are entered with 10-digit numbers and I just routinely dial area codes when calling people not in my contacts, just as I would have to on a standard wired telephone.

As to Wi-Fi calling, it only works on Fi if you have no cellular connection at all; I have confirmation of this from Fi support. Also, it only works with the default Google Phone dialer or the Hangouts dialer. If you are using a third-party dialer you may be out of luck. If you are using the Google dialer, try going to its Settings -> Calls -> Configure Wi-Fi calling and make sure it is enabled. See https://support.google.com/fi/answer/6157793?hl=en for possible solutions.

Notifications, for the most part, work fine for me. You seem to be correct that the notification LED does not blink for missed calls, but it works fine (for me) for pending voicemails. Honestly, one thing I do not like about the notification LED is that the blink rate is quite slow. With a simple glance at the phone sitting on my desk, one could easily miss it; so I may end up installing Light Flow or Light Manager mostly for that reason.

As to ten digits, I've not had to use them before this phone. I used to call by dialing a number in my nexus without the area code. Granted, I didn't pay as close attention to the carrier but it always went through. T-mobile works fine for 7 digit. Sprint does not.

You might be correct in the wifi, but mine is on and I use the stock google dialer. If my signal is dead or I turn on airplane mode and then wifi back on, it says it's dialing from the wifi, but then just sits there. Never makes a call. The timer runs and it "seems" like it's calling, but nothing.

As to the light, I get no light for missed calls or voicemail. I get the initial tone and the screen lights up, but then nothing. Same with emails I've marked to notify. The onl;y thing the light seems to work for is texts. I agree, the light blinks way to slow. That's why ambient display was nice. Of course, not so much on the pixel since it doesn't work either.

There are a lot of things to like about the pixel. But there are a lot of things that just flat out don't work right. Basic things. And for me, at this price, they darn well should work. You only get one chance to make a first impression and this one, for me, is not good.

If you haven't done so already, try a network settings reset: Settings -> ...More -> Network settings reset.

I have seen several reports of people having Wi-Fi issues if (apparently) they set up their Pixel by copying settings from their previous phone.

As to "pick up the phone to wake it" yeah, I sort of miss that. But, if you wake the phone with the fingerprint sensor and then swipe down *on the fingerprint sensor* that has the same effect as swiping down from the top of the screen. With minimal practice, it's easier to do the entire process one-handed. Turn it on in Settings -> Moves. See How to Turn on Google Pixel's Fingerprint Swipe Notification Gesture « Android Gadget Hacks for info.

Mine is going back as soon as Verizon opens. Not being able to work with the BT in my car is a deal breaker.

Re: I Got Rid Of My Pixel....

But it was the noise, rattling, etc around the camera that Google said they never heard of, but would replace, but others said they had it, some said it would go away if you open the camera app, proving it was the lens.

I don't have it. Sounds like an error. Since you say you love it, I'd send it back and try a second. If that one is not to your liking then pursue something else.

And so it begins. Don't feel alone. Once the gushy honeymoon reviews by people wearing horse blinders fall down the websites to where people don't scroll anymore, the real reviews will start surfacing with some semblance of honesty. Not saying it's not a great phone, just tired of the hyperbole liars' club reviews and posts every time a new phone comes out. You can't visit AC or iMore during October-November without a Nexus phone or an iPhone not being touted as having zero bugs and getting lambasted if you dare point out one. Once you get close to December people start being a little less dishonest. In the Spring of the next year the horse blinders fall off. In Fall of 2017, the 2016 Pixel or iPhone will magically become a POS top be spat on with disdain because the new ones will bring about interstellar peace throughout the galactic federation.

Which is why people shouldn't go out and get ANY phone the second it comes out. Let the fanboys do that. All the rest of us should hold off until real world use uncovers any serious bugs/problems.

If it isn't fitting your needs grab what is. Always be happy with your phone - not what others are happy with :).

...hence the problem... there doesn't currently seem to be a phone that makes many of us happy that were formerly Note 7 owners...

I cancelled my Pixel XL order because of the weak antenna.

I got the v20. I *like* it. I don't love it. It is a (IMO) *very good* phone. It is not a great phone.

Sammy just needs to hurry with my Detonate Note 8! I didn't realize until this whole fiasco how rabidly Samsung fangirl I am... but I really am! (although Sammy could probably take a few lessons from Google and LG moving forward...)
