Pretty close to sending pixel back

...hence the problem... there doesn't currently seem to be a phone that makes many of us happy that were formerly Note 7 owners...

I cancelled my Pixel XL order because of the weak antenna.

I got the v20. I *like* it. I don't love it. It is a (IMO) *very good* phone. It is not a great phone.

Sammy just needs to hurry with my Detonate Note 8! I didn't realize until this whole fiasco how rabidly Samsung fangirl I am... but I really am! (although Sammy could probably take a few lessons from Google and LG moving forward...)

To each their own. I was a Note 7 owner and am enjoying my Pixel XL a lot. I do miss the S-Pen since I used it a lot for screenshots and other things but I can get by.

6s, 7 Plus, Note 5, S7 edge, S6, S6 edge = No rattle. 1st Note 7 = rattle (I had 3).

Cameras in modern smartphones have multiple moving parts and *will* rattle if shaken. Some people have ears that are exquisitely tuned to this sound and others not so much...

Which is why people shouldn't go out and get ANY phone the second it comes out. Let the fanboys do that. All the rest of us should hold off until real world use uncovers any serious bugs/problems.

I agree 100% learned my lesson with the 6p

You have 30 days to send it back for a full refund if you don't like it, what's with all the QQ? Buy it, try it, and if doesn't work out for you, send it back.

Which seller has a 30 day return policy for the Pixel? Isn't it a 2 week return policy for Google Store and Verizon?

Oh boo, you are right. I don't remember it being 15 days last year when I had bought a 6p. I know the HTC 10 return window is 30 days and that was on my brain so I just figured Google's was the same. So yes, my bad, 15 days. Still not terrible, I think most issues you might have would crop up within two weeks of use.

I hesitate to ask: what is it about the 6P that you do not like? I just sold mine, having switched to the Pixel XL - I loved the 6P and have no issues whatsoever with the Pixel XL.

Now, the Nexus 6... I never really liked that one at all. Not the curved back, not the way it fit (actually, dug into) my hand. Not a lot of stuff.

And so it begins. Don't feel alone. Once the gushy honeymoon reviews by people wearing horse blinders fall down the websites to where people don't scroll anymore, the real reviews will start surfacing..."
:D

Where angels fear to scroll.

I liked the imagery of your statement.

I agree, they do have moving parts but there shouldn't be any rattling unless something is loose. I'm not a rookie when it comes to camera's and photography as I have a degree in photography (specifically landscape photography). Unless there is a floating element which is found in a lot of DLSR lens.

These are just my 2 cents. I definitely get what your saying about Fi but can't really speak to it because of being on Verizon. Bit really Fi may be Google's but the network it uses Google has absolutely nothing to do with it because the networks belong to sprint and T-Mobile. But as far as the notification light I think it could be leaps and bounds better than it is no doubt about it. But in my mind and just my personal opinion the only other phone out right now that's worth getting is the iPhone 7 plus which also doesn't have a light. While the s7 variants are all but a year old and I won't even mention the Note 7 R.I.P. lg for me isn't a consideration for the battery alone. I know they're replaceable but I don't want to be walking around with extra batteries in my pocket. The g3 and g4 battery's were terrible and my friend has been through countless g5s for battery issues I won't even consider lg. While the pixel may not be the best phone on the market it's definitely top 2 in my eyes at least.

Thanks, Almeuit. I view these flounce-like "sending it back" posts with a great deal of skepticism, much more than the reviews themselves, which I always read with a skeptical eye as well. Project Fi aside (which shouldn't even be brought into the conversation if one is only talking about the phone), the people with wifi or BT issues are just that -- people with issues. If wifi or BT were truly a problem with the phone, we would surely hear about it from sources other than an infrequent poster buried within a thread on AC.

I will miss the S Pen as well, I suppose, but the occasional actual notetaking notwithstanding, I've mostly used it to make shopping lists. I've installed the ColorNote app to get used to making those lists with the keyboard. A lot more legible, I will say.

A simple Google search ( https://www.google.com/search?q=pho...tf-8&oe=utf-8#q=phone+camera+rattles&start=10 ) shows that thousands of people complain about camera rattle in all smartphone brands/models. The only difference between those that rattle and those that don't is the individual owner's ability to discern the sound and his or her personal definition; one man's "loud rattle" is another man's "almost imperceptible ticking sounds" or even "What rattle? I can't hear anything...".

I am happy to answer. I love my 6P, but I have had Bluetooth issues with my vehicle since launch.

Also when I holster the phone on my shoulder while working sometimes people have a hard time hearing me. It's actually a pretty known issue on the google forums that Google acknowledged as a problem, it's an issue with the noise cancellation mic. They acknowledged it but never fixed it. So I lost trust in them

Google also never fixed the jumpy auto focus on the Nexus 6. People complained, but it was never addressed!

What about the S7 edge

What about the S7 edge
Don't know about juliesdrodsync but I didn't like the feel of the 7edge in my hand, I hated the edges, which are way more pronounced than on the Note 7, and the sound was weak. I do think it is true that there is no phone right now that I would love, that would actually replace the Note. The Pixel XL included. But it's not bad, despite a number of things I miss, or don't like. I rather imagine everyone else on here is tired of hearing about the Note 7. I was just thinking today, I would try and shut up about it.

I feel like I'm a beta tester for google sometimes. Had the pixel for 4 days now. Running into a lot of issues. I use the phone on fi network. That's where the beginning of the issues started. When I'm connected to t-mobile everything seems fine. When it connects to sprint, the phone thinks I'm from pasadena, ca when I'm in missouri. So local calls require 10 digits or you get someone in california. US cellular, forget it, I get a recording from verizon about can't make a call and it hangs up. No data is usable. I've called and chatted with fi support numerous times and they have been no help in sorting this issue out. It was escaled last thursday, but as of yet haven't heard anything back. Way too long a time.

As to the phone there are numerous things wrong. Again, I use fi. Based on using wifi and cell coverage. I can sit 10 feet from several routers and can't make a wifi call. On a samsung (at&t), I can turn on airplane mode and then turn wifi on and make calls all day with wifi calling. With the pixel, if I do that, the phone will just sit there saying dialing and never make a call. This happens in our work building at times because depending on where I'm at there I might not have a cell signal, but good wifi. No incoming or outgoing calls until I get a cell signal back. For a phone and network that pushes wifi calling, this is not good.

Many other smaller issues. Pulse notification light does not work for most anything but texts. No light for missed calls. No light for voicemails. No light for emails I've asked for notification on. This would be livable except that ambient display doesn't work except when you actually receive the item that's set to notify you. It doesn't work when you pick up or tilt the phone up like my nexus did. You basically have to open the phone or push the power button. Hell, even the iphone has this beat now.

There are a few more things and I could go on, but this is getting long enough. For a phone at this cost point and using googles own service, this shouldn't be happening. Again, I feel like I'm paying google to be a beta tester for things that all worked on a nexus 5x. It might be different on verizon, but for thing other than fi related, I doubt it. Besides venting on my part, is anyone else seeing any of these things, or maybe some I've missed since I've only had 4 days with it? I want to like this phone, but too much seems missing and not working quite right with only a promise from google that they're working on things.

I fell for the hype too. After a week, can honestly say my galaxy s7 edge is better, and my Axon 7 is better than both(at half the price too) .

I've had similar issues with my Pixel. The premise of an all-Google phone and network was appealing, but there have been tons of problems. In addition to the high frequency of "no internet connection" and "no cellular connections," these two stand out:

1. Calendar.
a. When I enter a new event on the Google Calendar, it does not sync with Outlook. I discovered this is because the default event calendar is a private calendar which is linked to my Google account. This makes the calendar useless. How do I change this, so the default event calendar is my Outlook account? All I want is to be able to do what worked perfectly fine on all prior Android phones: to click on the calendar, create an item, and have it sync with my Outlook calendar properly.
b. Similarly, has anyone figured out how to dial conference calls directly from Google Calendar in Pixel? In prior Android phones e.g. the Samsung Note3 (as well as iPhones and Blackberries), all you had to do was click on the phone number in the location field. In the Google Calendar in Pixel, this feature does not work. I've tried other apps (Outlook, Nine, etc) that work on other Android phones, but for some reason they don't work on the Google Pixel. Instead it tries to launch a mapping application (Google Maps, Lyft, Uber). For people with plenty of scheduled conference calls (e.g. millions of people who buy smartphones and work in companies), this is a serious productivity destroyer. Does anyone have a solution?

2. Contacts. When I synced to Google Contacts, I got flooded with duplicates. For instance, when I search for the name of one of my colleagues, I get three items now (rather than one, as appears in Outlook). This includes random flotsam and jetsam including various email addresses. Why are all these sudden duplicates clogging my contacts now? How do you fix this?
