Does anyone know how to prevent the phone from going into sleep mode during phone calls? Sometimes it takes annoyingly long to wake it up from sleep when I need to quickly enter numbers or look something up during a call. Please let me know if anyone knows how to disable it from going to sleep in the first place during calls. Resulting extra battery drain is no problem for me. Thanks!

Welcome to Android Central! When you say sleep mode, do you mean the screen isn't waking up after you take the phone away from your ear? If so, this kind of thing can happen sometimes with screen protectors or certain cases that block the proximity sensor. If you are using either, try taking them off.

I'm interested in this as well, I have Kyocera Hydro Life with KitKat; what I'm hoping for is having a phone not to lock its screen during calls, as in unlocking it with the push of a power button. This happens within 15 seconds, even when sleep is set to 10 or more minutes, and while phone is on the table in speaker mode. Thank you!

None of my devices have locked while on a call. I have developed a habit to lock the screen so my ear doesn't push random buttons or kill the call prematurely.

I do not doubt your phones don't, I'm just saying mine is :D, and to clarify i do not have to swipe to unlock the phone... the issue is i have to press the power button to get out of the sleep mode (black screen) while on call to, lets say enter automated system response etc.

Spot on. Thanks. It was the screen protector blocking the sensor
