How much, if any, do you think prices will drop on the 1 gen Pixels once the 2nd gen devices launch in a month or so?

I was a day late jumping on the Verizon deal for $240 off....now waiting around for the next good deal. The S8 for $575 on Amazon is tempting but really prefer to get a Pixel. (would love to stay w/ HTC but the 10 is now almost a year and a half old and the U11 is crippled on Verizon)

If Verizon is still carrying I'd anticipate $100 off or so. Most likely Google will stop selling them.

I was thinking the same, Google will pull them and they might pop up later on eBay or Amazon.

I want google to sell them at a discount price. iphone 6 is still the 10th best phone sold after iphone 7 was released. there is a market for discounted phone and selling it for $499 would be a good start

I'm hoping they drop. I would love a Pixel XL 2, but not a fan of the 6" screen, so I'm thinking about a cheaper original xl at that time.

5.5'' to 6'' is a noticeable difference, esp in a phone. And it's a lot when coming from a 5.2''. But this is all speculation I suppose until they are in stores to compare side-by-side.

Right, the screen is MUCH taller than the original XL and even more so than the 5X. What I'm saying is body size is almost the same, so if you're used to handling the original, the new one isn't much different.
