gonna miss webos tho, that's for sure

I really truly do love the webOS UI more than anything else I have used...but I don't have a lot of hope for Palm at this point, I'm frustrated with the lack of developer interest, and I use damn near every Google service there is, so I may as well buy their phone too. It just seems like my life would be easier by being EVEN MORE integrated with Google (and Google Voice in particular). Plus, the Trapster app and Facebook app (which are my two most used apps on my Palm Pre) are WORLDS ahead of the webOS versions.

t-mo guy was right! maybe there is some hope! Unsupported Browser

Huh? That's the HD2 runing WinMo with Sense UI overlaid on it. I'm not sure what you're trying to say...

Gotcha. As long as I can get the Evo 4G for under $300 (Stupid Sprint will probably have a $100 mail-in rebate again...) and not have an absurd "4G Plan" upcharge, I'm there.

1GB of on board memory (which is what applications use) and then everything else is stored on the SD card (photos, videos, etc.) which can go up to 32GB.

Yea I hear ya about getting rid of WebOS wished it would of picked up a lot faster than it has but I will be getting this new Evo phone no matter how much it is. I am seeing with out a new 2 yr contract the phone will probably reach the $500 -$600 range since some of us Palm WebOs users will not be out of the upgrade stage yet when it comes out. But very excited about this new Evo. BYE BYE Palm.

I'm interested in what the Dev's are going to do with the other camera. Facial Recognition Software to unlock ??? The Xperia X10 is getting that... if it ever releases, but the camera is not facing the user, so I don't think it would be used to unlock the device. I wouldn't use it for that. I still haven't decided where to move to after I graduate in April, maybe it will be Miami, which is supposed to have 4G. I see myself getting this, if not on release, than very shortly after. I like my hero, but I love this phone :). Shortly after getting it, my Hero will be on the market.

I really doubt it will be more than $300. Everything I've read so far says Sprint REALLY wants to push this phone to steal a lot of the thunder away from the next iPhone as well as WinMo 7. What better way to do that than with AMAZING hardware on the nations FIRST 4G phone, priced just like the best 3G phones that AT&T and Verizon can offer?

i'm thinking $649 or even $699 off contract... considering off contact Nexus at $529 and iphone 3GS (32gb) at $599... EVO 4G trumps all those, and imo, the price will reflect that... but I'd still gladly buy it off contract...

Oh, well...I was discussing pricing with a new 2-year contract. I would assume that the Evo 4G will be somewhere in the area of $600-$700 without a contract as well. As you said, that is still priced in the area of the Nexus One and iPhone, and it trumps all with better hardware and the ONLY 4G phone.

I guess I will do as I did with my Pre purchase and go to Best Buy to avoid having to deal with and wait for a $100.00 rebate. I have to have this phone!!!!

I hope Sprint can recognize that this phone should come with at least an 8GB,preferrably a 16GB sd card. I'm getting it. Still Love my Hero, But the whole HD video play back is what I NEED!

For those of you not monitoring other threads, you might want to read this:

Sprint: 4G Brings More Speed, Capacity At the Same Price - Forward Thinking by Michael J. Miller

"Dan Hesse said he expects that over the next two years, rate plans will move from minutes and text messaging to gigabytes per month. He said 4G will let Sprint offer faster speeds and more capacity at the same price. He and Clearwire CEO Willaim Morrow both pushed WiMax as well as mobile data in all sorts of data."

That pretty much settles it for me then. Hello Evo 4G!

I just switch my cards for what I want on my phone at the time so 8 gigs means less switching for me :) plus if i buy this i won"t have $200 to spare

My Hero is rooted. I havent tried but I dont know if I can switch out sd cards like that. Anyone out there know? TIA.

Well currently I'm on a blackberry and the EVO will be my first android device so it"s a little different I guess. Good thought though.

From what I'm reading in other threads - The SD card is underneath the battery, so you will have to shut your phone down to remove/swap SD cards.

Also, I'm still learning things about Android, but apparently this concept (putting the SD card under the battery) has something to do with Google specifying this in preparation for apps2sd.
