Pricing

If you have a Pre you should be on an ED plan which means you would be a Premier customer which means you get new customer pricing every 12 months.

Yea I hear ya about getting rid of WebOS wished it would of picked up a lot faster than it has but I will be getting this new Evo phone no matter how much it is. I am seeing with out a new 2 yr contract the phone will probably reach the $500 -$600 range since some of us Palm WebOs users will not be out of the upgrade stage yet when it comes out. But very excited about this new Evo. BYE BYE Palm.

From what I'm reading in other threads - The SD card is underneath the battery, so you will have to shut your phone down to remove/swap SD cards.

Also, I'm still learning things about Android, but apparently this concept (putting the SD card under the battery) has something to do with Google specifying this in preparation for apps2sd.

Apps to SD would be very nice! Why do companies refuse to offer this right now? Is it a security reason? I just dont get it

Which doesn't exist yet. Its also probably going to be around $300 for a 32GB micro sd card when it comes out.

Not true. Just saw an article on Engadget about one and they are stating a $200 release price. It will obviously drop fast like all the others. By the time this thing comes out, the cards should be out and a wee bit lower, maybe in the $150 range which ain't too bad. It's Sandisk if you want to Google it.

June 7 to Business and Premiere Members* - June 20 to all customers**

* - Subject to change. Product roll out to begin to select markets - GA, HI, ID, IL, MD, NC, NV, OR, PA, TX, & WA on or about June 1, 2010.

** - Customers in non-4G coverage expansion areas may not see the device due to product demand until a later date.

$599.99 retail (no discount for non-premiere customers) - $499.99 1 year extension (existing business and premier customers) - $299.99 2 year contract after $100 mail-in rebate.

I should say with a big quote, this was passed on to me, by someone that I feel pretty good about, but read the second line "Subject to change" so I don't even know if Sprint has a solid for it yet. But it sure seems about right to me from what others are reporting.

I'm going to take an educated guess and say $199.99 - $249.99 after mail in rebate.

I'm a Premiere Member...so that part is awesome...but I live in Ohio, and I'll be SUPER PISSED if it's true that I can't get it on day one.

Maybe I'll call Sprint and raise hell with customer service and they'll sell it to me that way.

I figure walmart or bestbuy will pick it up and walmart is usually a bit cheaper with no mail in rebates, so I'm thinking that's what I'll do. Sprint's mail in rebates aren't the worst, but I'd rather not use them if I don't have to.

Has HTC put out a device that is priced for $299 before? I don't doubt that the cost might be there, but for the most part I've seen them at about $199/$249. Also, how quickly would the price drop? I remember the Pre dropped $50 pretty quickly, even though they had decent sales compared to the supply.

Agreed. I got my Pre from Best Buy on the first day of sales to avoid the MIR.

I believe the HTC Touch Pro was originally $399 with 2 year contract. However, pricing has gotten extremely aggressive on smartphones since then. So I would be really surprised to see the Evo release higher than $249.

Also, the Pre dropped $50 quickly because the sales were terrible.

it will for sure be 299$ with 100$ MIR so your looking at 400$ out the door price I mean come on the HTC touch pro 2 is that price and it is NO WHERE NEAR THE eVo lol it might even be more the 299$ so lets cross our fingers and hope they dont make it 399$ because 299$ is all i will pay for that phone it is not god in my hands but it is getting close to it.

HD2 also sold out in hours at that price.

Considering the news coming about about Google paying carriers and developers we're liable to see lower prices.

I would pay an unsubsidized price for this phone with no regrets at all :)

I'm on that train of thought too. I only have one question and for some reason I havn't gotten a response yet. I currently have a palm Pre and I've purchased a few apps and games in support of the Dev's and such, but once I upgrade there doomed to sit on my pre lost forever.

I was told that I wont have that issue with Android becuase you can get Android on just about any phone now, simply sign into your google profile. My question: If I trade my Pre for a Hero will I be able to transfer my profile & purchases to the EVO when it's finally released?

Yes, once you make a purchase from the market as long as you use the same Google account information all you do is go to the market, hit downloads and everything you've purchased on downloaded will be there to add to your EVO, unless you have an app that isn't 2.1 compatible.

Correct:
I've installed so many different ROM's on my Hero (currently running Sprint Modified 2.1 release courtesy of Damageless) each time I open up market after a full flash, all my apps are there for re-download. One app this past time showed up but wasn't compatible yet. It was a free HTC battery widget, so I downloaded another free one from the market. All 3 of my paid apps worked. If the app says 1.5 only, or not compatible with 2.xx, I wouldn't download it (I can't now anyways... this ROM is sweet!).
