PRL Swap for the V on VM (latest PRL for Sprint Towers).

No problem, it's actually linked in
op but I could see how one might overlook it.

Otherwise one could read the first couple of posts to see if anyone has troubles. Mine seems to only pick it up if I plug my phone into my computer while on, then power it off.

Alright, I tested both the 60681 and the 22081 PRLs. I tested them in this order. Put the 60681 PRL on my phone, gave it 10 minutes to utilize itself (by finding the towers, making a good connection etc) Tested 60681 four times using speed test inside Open Signal app, then a small 10 minute break to give the phone to find and utilize the 22081 PRL, then 22081 four times. Keep in mind that although I ran both tests with the same signal strength (4 bars out of 6 total, 51% signal strength according to Open Signal, or -93dBm) Here's my results:

68081
Test 1: ping - 382ms, download - 1318kbps, upload - 422kbps
Test 2: ping - 352ms, download - 1426kbps, upload - 290kbps
Test 3: ping - 295ms, download - 1646kbps, upload - 0kbps
Test 4: ping - 229ms, download - 1561kbps, upload - 431kbps

Average: ping - 314.5ms, download - 1487.75kbps, upload - 381kbps

22081
Test 1: ping - 301ms, download - 1166kbps, upload - 723kbps
Test 2: ping - 233ms, download - 1211kbps, upload - 409kbps
Test 3: ping - 393ms, download - 723kbps, upload - 295kbps
Test 4: ping - 531ms, download - 1636kbps, upload - 536kbps

Average: ping - 364.5ms, download - 1184kbps, upload - 490.75kbps

Keep in mind that different areas might have different speeds simply because maybe Sprint has updated one area but not another. However I have found certain PRLs have better uploads, and certain PRLs have better downloads.

This was just for educational purposes so you can see the difference between the two and make your own judgement call. :)

What this tells you is that you're connecting to the same tower and the variance in speed is just normal (i.e. you could've done 4 more tests on the same PRL 10 minutes later and it'd be different again). You'll see the numbers differ enough between tests for the averages to not mean much.

All PRL does is identify which towers you can connect to...not change your speed when connected to the same tower. The only time a more updated PRL would be detrimental is if it removes towers, or if it allows you to connect to a closer tower that happens to be more congested than the further tower you used to go thru at a given location.

For most people, all of the numerous PRLs make no difference at all because the list of towers remained exactly the same in their location. Any improvements seen would just be placebo effect (i.e change to new PRL, do speed test, see speed go up, assume it's better). It's still fun to tinker though!

I'm having a problem...

I went to swap my PRL in QPST and the phone won't appear in the active phones tab. It shows up in the ports tab but no luck in the active phones tab. I've tried reinstalling QPST, reinstalling the drivers, re-installing my OS and still no luck. I'm really confused because it worked perfect the first few times I've swapped my PRL.

I've also changed the port number and still nothing.

I'm running XP Pro 32bit and if anyone can shed some light on this I'd greatly appreciate it.

how did you do the PRL change before? I know mine only works if I plug it into the computer while on, then power it off.

With everything u have done the only thing I could guess is redoing ur drivers for the fone. If that does not work best bet is try another computer and check for viruses/malware

^ this. lol Idk since all that you've tried I'd go with trying to find another computer. If you've got Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate you've got Windows XP mode, so there's a whole nother computer there (and if you've got 64-bit windows the Windows XP mode is still only 32-bit so no compatibility issues)

what do i do if my phone isnt showing up under the "active phones tab" in qpst configuration? i added COM4 to the ports tab and it shows up as COM4 > ENABLED > COM4 > NO PHONE > USB

Have you tried rebooting into recovery and seeing if your phone shows up in qpst?

some one who has time and knows what there doing should make a hybrid prl of Verizon that could be used on the optimus v

That would be roaming. All the listed Sprint prls have the Verizon towers in them. Virgin does not allow roaming, so we can't access them.

Been reading the forums for a month or two now, however this is my first post. Just wanted to let everyone know in the Tallahassee FL area the latest sprint prl (01115) changed from the stock vm prl has provided me with SIGNIFICANT data speed increases and overall better coverage. By significant, i'm talking going from 50 to 150 kbps down with the vm prl to 450kbps to 1.2mbps down with the sprint prl. why? I have no idea, maybe the vm towers around here suck because even the hybrid vm/sprint prl didnt provide much of an improvement

I thought I'd add my two cents into this from what I've learned recently. I've got the 22081 PRL and I took a trip across the country (returning home on the train as we speak) and I "had" service in Western Kansas but I couldn't make phone calls or texts or go online. I finally got useable service around Wichita, but from near the CO/KS border to there, if I tried to make a phone call it wanted me to buy a USA roaming PIN for 15 dollars.

Can someone please help. I can not get past step #3 Ports > LGE Android Platform USB Serial Port > Properties > Port Settings > Advanced > COM port number as my phone is not showing up under ports, it does show up under ABD Interface. I just can't get it to work? What am I doing wrong? here is a screenshot of where I'm at Thanks

Have you installed the LG drivers on your computer? Where are you getting the instructions for doing this? Have you tried booting phone into recovery then connecting phone to computer?

Or even connecting the phone to the computer then booting into recovery or complete power down (if you're on froyo)

Just did a speed test. With prl 1115. 2 bars who my home who midnight.
