Problem using Do Not Disturb

Just got my first smartphone, a Moto G5+ (Android 7.0 Nougat). I set-up Do Not Disturb so that only numbers from my contacts list would get through. My ringer volume is set to 100%. If I do a test call, my call gets through (I can see the call on the screen) but the phone doesn't ring. If I turn off Do Not Disturb, the phone will ring. My impression is that if Do Not Disturb is set to Priority>Calls from Contacts, a call from a contact should ring the phone the same as if Do Not Disturb were not in effect. No?

Welcome to the forums as a new member! You also need to check that DND, or the phone app, is not kicking in silent mode (does the phone vibrate?) when DND is active. You are correct in your assumption otherwise. There may also be a setting specific to the G5+, don't have one myself. Just for reference, its usually better to post questions in a phone specific forum rather than an OS one :)
