problem with date/time home screen

For some reason the date/time's font on the home screen gets very large and the temperature goes away. Force stop and clear storage of Google app usually fixes it. Seems to occur randomly, however, more likely when not connected to WiFi. Any ideas?

How often does it happen? If it's frequent, see if it also happens in Safe Mode.
