Problem with my contacts

Not sure if this is specifically a Note 5 issue or not, but here goes.
I have my dad as one of my contacts. He has recently acquired a new cell phone with a new number. I edit is contact information and delete the old mobile number, add the new one and save it. A few days later, he calls me from his mobile phone and my caller ID shows it as unknown. I go back to my contact information and it has his old phone number listed again. I edit it again, by deleting the old number and adding the new one and then save it. Eventually, I haven't determined what the trigger is, it goes back to showing his old number again. Anyone know a work around?

Are any apps you have syncing from other sources? Popular apps to sync contact pictures from social networks like Facebook may include the option to 'overwrite' contact information from there.

Not for my dad. He doesn't use Facebook or anything else.

Exchange accounts? Syncing contacts from another phone maybe? Are you saving the contact locally in your phone or to your Google Account? If the latter, try this: Change your dad's contact information. Then go to http://contacts.google.com Does the change reflect there?
