I've had mine about 2 hours and the only thing that stands out as of now is the damn thing is overheating.......I mean this baby gets HOT. Is this normal? I've heard people mention this about the Incredible.

Im getting the same thing bud. No idea whats going on with it and why its getting hot. I didnt like the fact that my Inc did that and now that this has it, its annoying as hell.

Does the X get "uncomfortable" hot? I agree that the Inc certainly gets warm, but never to the point where it becomes annoying. I'm a bit bummed to hear about the X overheating... hope it doesn't become a major problem for you. :(

Weirdness,

I have logged almost 1.5 hours talking since this morning and one call lasted 27 minutes.

General browsing around learning it and a little texting and internet and mine has not gotten hot once. I even have it in a slide holster case. Come to think of it, maybe that is why and the heat won't transfer through it.

I will take it out and test it.

Mine hasn't gotten warm at all and coming from an eris to this is like comparing a pinto to a porsche lol this thing flies

its pretty common on most android devices i have used, especially when running 3g/gps hard, which is likely happening when playing with a new toy.

well the OMAP processor in the Pre got hot, and the iphone got pretty warm too.

I think with the size of the device and speed of the processor it getting warm is normal.

Most cell phones get hot when you start using them intensely like downloading and using a bunch of apps at once.

Yep that's the norm. I haven't used one that didn't get warm, especially when using multimedia.

Overall I absolutely love this phone.

Havnt downloaded anything yet other then Beautiful Widgets. When it gets hot, Im browsing the internet. I dont think thats TOO strenuous for the device for it to overheat...

I've noticed that GPS kills the battery VERY quickly and is one of the causes why people are getting hot hands with the phone lol. GPS plus 3G plus downloading dozens of apps (I have about 30 already) makes this thing heat up like a mother ****er.

I'm actually afraid of putting a silicon case on it. It'll keep me from feeling how hot it is, but it'll trap the heat inside the phone and I'm afraid what hardware damage could happen then.

Seems like it will be a good hand warmer in the winter :)

I had the Evo and traded in for the X. So far I think I like the X better but both phones have their plus/minus. I will post something about that later.

However, in response to the phone getting hot. It does. It gets really hot. I have never used a phone that gets this hot .. in fact it worries me. The Evo would warm up under long/heavy usage. Even my BB would heat up. However, the X is crazy hot.... I am not sure I would put a skin or silicon cover on it.

EDIT: I have not seen the X get this hot again. Maybe it was a fluke. I don't know. Other than this one time the temp and usage appears stable/reasonable. I will keep an eye on it.

I notice it getting warmer especially with wifi and gps. As soon as I stop, it cools off quickly. Also, not sure if this is the case, but it seemed better when connected to a power source. I assume the heat is related to more data and radio intensive use.

seems like any extended usage of the screen does it for me, but then again, the phone doesn't exactly have any airflow to cool off with.

How many tasks have been running at the time of the most heat? Are you using a task killer?

My EVO scorches when it does too much. For example, for 8 straight hours everyday I have 4G/Hotspot/Phone/Bluetooth/games all going at once. Processors heat up, it is natural. If you are concerned, keep multitasking to a minimum.

Bonus though in the winter when your lock is frozen. Just put your phone over it and melt the ice.

Think how big the heat sink is on a computers processor and the fans to cool that heat down. Think how small these phones are getting and the processors are getting faster. The heat has to go somewhere.

Having said that, mine got really warm the first two hours I was using it and downloading about 30 apps to get it all setup. Since then I haven't noticed it at all.
