You can remove the bottom row punctuation keys to make the space bar wider or you can increase the size of the keyboard. Go to:
Settings/language and keyboard/
Lg keyboard

You can alter the size of the keyboard in the settings.. And you can change the aggresiveness of the auto correct

I have the same issue. Admittedly it's my own fault for having a lazy thumb. I never reach far enough and always end up with Bs and Vs instead of spaces.

Try Fleksy keyboard it allows you to swipe right to space.
