Problems with charging a Samsung Galaxy S4

So I've had the Galaxy s4 for a little over 3 months and everything was working perfectly until yesterday where I plugged it into the charger and turned it off last night when I went to bed, then when I woke up the phone hadn't charged and the charger wasn't working at all (no vibrations or indication that it was plugged in) however when I plugged in an blackberry charger, the phone charged but at a lower rate. What is the problem? and how do I fix it? any help is appreciated.

It sounds like something's gone wrong with the charger. Maybe try unplugging then plugging it in a different outlet, and pull the USB cable out of the charger then re-connect it. If that doesn't work, it's probably time to get a new charger. You can test to see if it's the charger unit and not the cable by connecting the USB cable to a USB port on a computer and seeing whether that will charge the phone.

I am able to connect the phone to a computer with the USB cable and that also charges the phone but at a slower rate, do you think that it is the transformer in the adapter that's the problem?

Sounds like it probably is.

Thank you for the help, I think there was a power surge in the night which damaged it as some other charges no longer work either. Thank you for the help.

Same thing happened with my friends charger after a few months, she called her carrier and they sent her out a new charger.
