Problems with Google Play music

Hi, I have had my nexus 7 for a while and I'm having some issues with my music in Google play. I have at least 3000 songs and I manually sifted through them to create my 700 song playlist, now I want to get rid of the other 2300 tracks that I don't listen to but at the same time keep the tracks from the playlist, the only way I can figure out how to delete tracks is one by one, which is pretty annoying. I can't even delete music by artist or album only track by track.
Someone please help I really don't want to sift through all those tracks and I need space cleared on my nexus 7 real bad... Thanks

I also haven't found a way to select multiple songs or albums and delete them all at once on Google Music. I've only been able to delete them one at a time from the website. I thought that perhaps I could delete all the music I no longer wanted from the sync folders on my PC, then use Music Manager to sync the updated content. But this only adds new music to Google Music; it doesn't delete music that is no longer on my computer (I guess I can understand why).

You made a comment, though, about the unwanted songs using space on your N7. Unless you've pinned the songs from Google Music to your N7, they won't take up any space (other than in the temporary cache for songs you've played), as they reside on the Google servers. So from that point of view there's no concern. The issue is wading through lots of songs and albums on Google Music that you don't really want to see anymore.

Once I've synched my N7 with my pc I simply locate the N7 music folder then I'm able to add or delete tracks. For multiple deletions just hold down the Ctrl key on your pc and click on each track then click Delete on the pc. Must say however that I'm a bit disappointed with the quality of music played on my N7. It's nothing like as good as my iPod Shuffle or even my ancient HTC Hero mobile.

Yes, your solution is fine for locally stored files when your N7 is connected to your PC. You can also perform the function of deleting multiple files at once, without connecting to a PC, by using a file manager app on your N7. However, in reference to songs stored on Google Music, multiple selections for deletion don't seem possible, but I might be missing something.

Regarding sound quality, it's very possible that the N7 doesn't sound as good as your iPod (after all, your iPod is intended specifically for playing music), but there are other factors to consider. Try a different headset. I've found that a headset that sounds great on one device doesn?t necessarily have the same quality on a different device. When you try another headset, it might sound just fine, yet on your first device it might not sound as good.

Also, try different media player apps. I have six different player apps (three are for specific needs - Google Music and Amazon MP3 for cloud listening, and musiXmatch for lyrics). For the most part they all sound decent enough. But some do sound better than others. One app seems to introduce distortion on some songs for some reason, while the same songs play back flawlessly on another app. My current favorite is PowerAmp Music Player. It has multiple audio adjustments available and I tend to like its sound qualities the most.

Perhaps I'm talking (or typing!) at cross-purposes as I'm using the "stock" music player on my N7 - it shows as a pair of headphones on the home page. I copied tracks to it (the music folder) from my iTunes library, dragging and dropping via Windows Explorer on my pc. As to the headset, I'm using a pair of Grado SR60's which are pretty good across a wide variety of music options. I must admit I didn't think that different media player apps would make much difference as I imagined that the basic musical reproduction was retained by the N7. Compared with the iPod or phone I'm using, there is a significant reduction in clarity and separation on the N7 just now.

Ah, no problem! Yes, the stock player is called Play Music, and it is also the interface with Google Music, where you can store 20,000 songs. In terms of a music app, it's pretty basic, but functional. Just for kicks, try the trial version of PowerAmp to see if it makes a difference. I think you'll hear improvement, especially after adjusting EQ and other settings. You might also like the customizable interface better. As for your headset, uh, probably not the problem!

Thanks MJK! I'll perhaps be adventurous and try your recommendation.

Tried PowerAmp and it works a treat. Big improvement. Many thanks MJK!

Happy to hear it helped! I assume different apps process the signals in different ways, resulting in different sound quality. More likely it's just magic. Another favorite player app I use is jetAudio Plus. However, on some songs played with jetAudio I hear distortion or something that doesn't sound right. I'll then play the same song on PowerAmp, and the song sounds fine. So, yes, each app has its own kind of magic.
Did that too MLK. no change
Sorry to hear it didn't help. Be sure to try the different EQ and sound settings. If that still doesn't make a difference, try another player, like jetAudio. One person's distortion might be another person's music to his ears!
