If the ESN is in Verizon's database, they will activate it. Having said that, the whole thing sounds a little shady to me, and I would be cautious if it were me.
Thats what I was thinking. Its like a pre-release device... Also, whats good in the database may be bad tomorrow. I know the RIM kills pins on pre-release BlackBerry units, they are good one night and then you can wake up the next morning and have no data service. Everything else will work, but no email, no web, no data connection.
