Pull the tab marked "PULL" - void your warranty

That sucks. You might want to try contacting verizon's ceo office. I've had very good luck in dealing with problems with big companies that way in the past -- consumerist.com usually has their contact info:

Verizon CEO's Contact Info - The Consumerist

Once you contact them they'll generally put you in touch with executive customer support, who will take much better care of you than regular cs.

Good luck!

I was half tempted to pull it after the idiot at walmart was trying to figure out how to put in the battery. Thankfully I was able to grab the device and insert the battery before it got pulled.

This is bullsh/t because mine never even came with a tab! I watched the battery removal video on Androidcentral.com before I even attempted the battery pull and then when I opened my X, it had no tab at all. I had to use a credit card to get the battery out. Should I call Moto or Verizon and explain this to them?

Good thing I paid for this with my American Express in case they give me a hard time...I'm seriously annoyed now but if this becomes a widespread issue I'm sure VZW/Moto will have to change their policy

I can't believe that crap. Mine's still in but that's just BS to have it void your warranty. I can see that thing easily tearing or coming off if I played with my battery all the time (which I won't, just saying).

My wife's not the only one who pulled the insulating panel out of her phone by pulling the tab marked "PULL". And Verizon and Moto have told her she no longer has a warranty.

Here's her story:

Slashdot Journal | DroidX does: have a self-destruct tab. Verizon: you voided your warranty

I would call the better business bureau, then I would call your local TV station, after that, I would then call Verizon and keep asking for the higher ups.

They can not void your warranty without it being in writing.

One rep doesn't make a vioded warranty. The most I have seen is that it isn't covered under warranty not that it truly voids it. So true the Mother would have to in theory get a new Droid X if she wants one with the Tab/slip there, but missing it doesn't make it a broken phone.

Yes, BUT she should still be able to return it before 30 days.

I guess I'm going to be removing the battery as little as possible from now on.

I wish I could hot-swap the SD cards like on Blackberry, though.

The Palm Pre has the same tab...why was this not a problem then?

It doesn't say pull so maybe that lets you avoid false pulls? haha

Ok i'm one of the ppl who pulled the tab marked "pull". Go figure. To take your battery out, just smack the top of the phone into your palm. Do it hard. The battery will fall out.

thanks. so mad that i removed it but there werent clear directions. i thought it meant like dont cut the thing off use the pull tab to remove it first. hitting my phone wont mess it up right?

I haven't read the slashdot article but some on, it seems like common sense that its all attached and even says don't cut.

But... if ya have an issue don't even mention its not there or you accidentally took it off. That simple.

That's BS man. My girl did the same thing. luckily for her she was just able to re-attach the tab immediately afterwards. I seriously doubt that pulling off a flimsy piece of plastic that says "pull" on it would void a warranty. thats like voiding the warranty on your iphone for holding it in the wrong hand...........wait a miniute??...

I would have no sympathy for the people who pulled this TAB off, if in the literature that came with the phone that they explained what it was for and about it..... but alas I looked through my tiny little books and they don't..

Still I think people might want to calm down and think before ripping things off a phone I would have stopped ripping that thing off as soon as I saw it was the entire area where the battery goes.. But that's just me
