I am just wondering why I can't just drag and drop music on my GS3 like i could with my evo after hooking the USB to the computer??? Heeellllppp please I need my tunes lol

Are you using a pc or Mac? With a pc, I believe you'll need to have it switched to PTP (camera mode) and you'll be able to copy and paste or click & drag. If you use Samsung Kies, leave it on MTP (media device) and it'll work similar to iTunes.

If you're using a Mac, especially with Mountain Lion, it's a little more of a PITA. I've been using Easy Phone Tunes. Android File Transfer for video. It sucks until they update Kies to be compatible with 10.8.

Make sure when you connect to USB that the phone is set to work as a MEDIA DEVICE and not a camera.

I had that problem too, but for some reason after I had Kies downloaded and hooked up, I was able to drag and drop when I plug it in even though I don't use Kies.

iSyncr works on a Mac very nicely. I have mine set up to sync at 2:00 AM, which it does flawlessy. Both my iTunes library and my phone music library are completely in sync. It also syncs pictures.

I believe iSyncr is also available for PC as well. It is designed to work with iTunes. If you aren't using iTunes, Kies seems to work for me on PC, but I couldn't get it to work on my Mac.

I can drag and drop but if I download to my phone from Google Play, it doesn't show up in the stock music player. Songs downloaded from amazon to my phone however do show up. I like the stock music player because the status bar disappears in landscape mode in Google Play and the pull down doesn't give you shortcut to Play when you are using it, like the Stock player does.

I had to D/L the Samsung G3 drivers to get MTP working properly with my work desktop (Windows XP) but had no problems using my home computer (Windows 7 64bit) without needing to D/L anything.

Unless you set the music bought front Google Play to be Available Offline, then you're just streaming it when you play it. Try making the songs available offline and your phone will download them.

I'm assuming the ones in google play have been downloaded to the phone, the pin is highlighted to "Keep on device". but when I click "On Device Only" not all of them show up, even though Keep on device is checked...and when I initially clicked the Pin, it said it was downloading music.

I gave up trying to use the "keep on device" pin and now just D/L the mp3 files to my computer and then transfer to the phone over the USB connection. You shouldn't have to use a computer as the middle man but I can't find the way to actually D/L the songs directly to the phone.:(

I can't switch modes to download/upload pics & music on my Samsung S3 so it never leaves the charging mode. help?

When you plug the phone into a USB port on your computer, what happens? You should see, in the notification bar, a message that says the phone is connected in either MTP mode or camera mode. After the message goes away, there should be a little USB icon in the notification bar. Do you see any of that?

What operating system are you running on your computer?

If it's a PC, and you open My Computer, do you see the phone listed as a device?

i cant sync my itunes to my s3.... i have a pc and when i connect my phone it only charges it.... also when i look in my computer its NOT listed as a device... plz help!

From post #17, do you see a notification on the phone?
Are you sure you're using a data cable (you'll see 5 golden pins in the microUSB connector) or just a charging cable (there will be only 4 pins in the connector)?
Have the necessary drivers been installed on your PC?

I know this is an old post but I was having this same issue at work with my WIN7 Desktop and I just got it solved. (Like you, I could open the music folder on my phone or on the SD Card but I couldn't download anything to it). What i noticed was that there are 2 different type of USB ports on my desktop. One is labeled SS and the center is blue and the other one is plain black. I had the data cable plugged into the SS blue port when it didn't work. I moved the data cable over to the plain black USB and voila! It works! So to make this short, try using a different USB port. Oh, and I am in MTP mode. Hope this helps and good luck!
