Hi, i see several discussions about this but they were from a while ago and I do not know if things have changed in the mean time. So a while back, I got like 4 new, never activated lg transpyre and a new moto e, all verizon prepaid (I don't know what versions they are and I do not believe that would matter). i got so many to use as backups because it was easy to get those phones to work with verizon postpaid back then. In fact, I have transpyres on all of my current postpaid lines (I do not own any postpaid phones).

well that was dumb. At this moment, what are my options if I want to use one of those new phones on my current postpaid plan? From what I understand, the only way is I have to sign up for the cheapest prepaid plan ($30?)

From what I read in this forum, my impression is that I only need to sign up for one month prepaid, and I can move the prepaid sim card from phone to phone and activate as many as I want (so it only costs $30 to clear all those phones to be used on postpaid)? won't there be any activation charge? and those phones will be available immediately for use on postpaid (so none of the phone actually have to be in service for one month)?

please educate me on this matter. if it works then the $30 is definitely worth it. at least it is not 6 month prepaid requirement like before (for 4g lte phone at least)

You just need one sim to activate all the phones on prepaid. There is no activation charge on prepaid.

thanks. can the phone be used immediately on postpaid the moment it is activated? do I need to make a call on it or do anything?

genius me took out the pospaid sim from a working transpyre and insert it into a moto e this morning. so right now I got hotlined. and i don't think putting it back to the old transpyre would make any difference at this point. so I do wish to get the moto e cleared asap.

I am not sure if it can be used immediately. Regardless you will need to call to remove the hotline.

Yes, if you called to get the transpire working again they would be able to remove that hotline. Anytime you put a postpaid sim into a prepaid device that hasn't become postpaid eligible, it's going to put a hotline on that line of service. There's an eligibility check using the imei that tech reps can use to determine if a device is eligible to be activated on a postpaid line of service.

Thanks. the transpyre worked again when i put the sim card back into it without even needing to call verizon. what is the difference here? why would it works on one phone and not the other even though they are all prepaid devices and have never been activated nor used on verizon prepaid? thanks!

Maybe phones with imei before the change took place work without being activated on prepaid first
