Q about what we can expect with pricing, sales, etc.

I haven't been following over the last year so I must ask, now that carriers have switched to mostly selling phones at full-price, should we expect to pay $699 over the next few months if we don't take advantage of the $100 off pre-order coupon? Or, do carriers/online retailers typically offer similar discounts following the release of a phone?

Thanks.

Most offer sale prices somewhat frequently. HTC has sales every Tuesday I believe. Not on every device but they always have something marked down on Tuesdays. Occasionally that something is their flagship phone.

Over the last couple of years, I've noticed the following with carriers: Samsungs don't go down much until the next year's model releases, S5 only seemed to really go down after S6 released; M8 was only 50 dollars less than the M9 when the M9 released, and I didn't really notice the price go down until recently; LGs go down considerably, I've seen the G4 as low as 350 at the carrier; and you know iPhone doesn't go down much.

T-mobile had great promotions for the S7 and G5, so I'm hoping they're going to announce something similar before the HTC discount goes away. If they don't, I'll probably just by an unlocked version.
