I?ve downloaded the zip file for a custom rom AND the zipped boot.img file.

Question..... I know I need to put the ROM file onto the sd, and install through ??recovery??, and then flash the boot.img with ``fastboot commands``. But do I need to extract the zipped boot.img file or just put it, as it is, into my fastboot folder ?

ROM I intend flashing, and have downloaded is ARHD 8.

Thanks

You could just open up the ROM zip and replace its supplied boot image with your boot image, rezip it and then flash it (with Sig verification off). That being said, no you do not want to do anything to it. If you use fastboot to flash it, just leave it as boot.img

Can't achieve s-off, I've got a HOX+ and it can't be done, yet.

Anyway, thanks for your reply but I don't think I explained my issue properly.

I have a zipped boot.img file with a big long fancy name. If I look inside the file,.without unzipping, I.can see a file called, simply, "boot.img".

Do I need to extract the "boot.img" and flash IT from my fastboot folder using fastboot commands ?

Thanks again.

Re. my last post..... I said put it in "fastboot" folder, should have said "platform-tools" folder.

Cheers
