Question about initial start up

I just picked up the Droid Turbo from Verizon. I initially thought that all phones came with a half charge for battery storage purposes, but mine was above 90 percent. Is this normal or damaging to the phones massive battery? I like to keep my phones in perfect condition, so I don't want to start on a bad note with my new buy or have to deal with faulty battery issues it's whole life because of how it was shipped.

I don't think it makes any difference what the charge is when you get it.
