Question about online availability on the 12th?

I have heard that the Prime will be available to online retailers on the 12th.

What exactly does this mean?

Would Amazon for example get the primes into their warehouses on the 12th, but keep them until the 19th, then send them out?

Or can you order them on the 12th (unless you have preordered) and they will start shipping on that day, giving people the possibility of getting a prime before brick and mortar stores have them?

I'm sure Amazon would ship as soon as they got them. Apparently there were so many preorders that the entire first shipment were claimed by preorders, so ASUS is telling people not to expect them before the 19th. Those who preordered before Nov. 25 or so have a good chance of being in that first shipment group.

If you didn't order before now you're looking at Dec. 19th or even later.
