Hey folks.

I know this is all speculation until an official announcement but..

In previous years, when do pre orders open based on announcements at Unpacked? Is it immediately?

The unpacked event is early in the morning tomorrow where I am and I'm going to have to juggle a few things to be able to preorder immediately if that's likely to be the case..

Normally, I give it a few days but I've already pre registered and want to be able to go straight away with the S22 Ultra because of the rumoured delay.

Thanks

Everything we are hearing is that the S22 line will be up on Samsung's website, ready to be ordered, immediately following the Unpacked event tomorrow morning.

Yikes. Thanks. Hope I manage it. Mind you, I have to go via the email on the Samsung website to get my credit. Have marked them as important so hope I don't miss the email! Thanks!

@philliplavelle: likewise, i signed up for the $50 credit as well, but we really have no idea what time they will send us the links to be able to buy the phone, right?

my concern is this: let's say the Samsung Unpacked event is over at around 11am or 11:30am (EST), and we go immediately to samsung.com and the S22 Ultra is available for pre-ordering already, BUT, we still have not yet received the $50 link email from samsung. what should we do?

should we forgo the $50 and pre-order right away so we won't be caught up in the delays and get our phones around Feb 23rd? or, should we continue to wait for an UNKNOWN period of time for the samsung $50 email to arrive? how many days would we have to wait? in the meantime, all those folks who pre-ordered immediately after the Unpacked event would be ahead of us in line in case they have a shortage of phones, and we might have to wait weeks and weeks to get ours?

As I understand it, the credit cant be used for the phone just for accessories. So I will just order the phone, and then when that email arrives use it for a Watch or for the buds or something else

@philliplavelle: in the past, the credit is ONLY GOOD for the time you're placing the order for the phone!

however, i might be confusing two things: i might be thinking about the $150 credit that we get for ordering the S22 ultra early on. for this $150 credit, we MUST order and use it all up or lose it! i.e. it MUST be used on the same order as the phone order. this $150 is also only eligible to be spent on accessories, not to reduce the phone's purchase price. very inconvenient that it has to be spent/used on the phone's original order! no flexibility.

If we do end up getting $150 accessories credit for trading in our S21 Ultras, it's worth me having peace of mine getting the order placed right away vs. waiting 12 to 24 hours to receive the email from Samsung with the extra $50 credit.

The $150 accessories credit is not for trading S21U but for purchasing S22U. For S22+ the credit most likely will be $100 and $50 for S22 pre-order. So, if you don't care about extra $50 credit, go ahead and order right away. For your S21U you probably will get $750-800 trade-in discount.

@kide#WN: i am confused by that first part of your post.

the $150 is for buying a new S22 Ultra, yes, but it is ALSO ok for us to be trading in our S21 Ultra ALONG WITH BUYING the S22 Ultra, right?

or, are you saying that the $150 is only available IF you buy ONLY the S22 Ultra outright WITHOUT trading in your S21 Ultra?

that really can't be the case because in years past, i've always traded in my previous phone and i always got some type of accessories allowance. last year, for example, was very clearly a good amount, iirc, $150 and i bought a bunch of fast chargers and stylus, etc.

look forward to your reply. thank you.

The trade-in discount and the pre-order discount are independent from each other.

As I remember, the accessories credit was a bonus gift because you pre-ordered regardless if a trade-in was involved. Can't remember the dollar amount on the Note 20U pre-order, but I think it was 150.00.

When the Note20U pre-orders began, I was on a camping trip. Fortunately, I actually had a phone signal. My reservation email for the 50.00 bonus arrived about 5am. Grabbed a flashlight, ordered the Note & accessories, then went back to sleep.
:)

Saw on GregglesTV YouTube video today that some markets will be offered a free upgrade for pre-odering. For example if you want to upgrade your S22 Ultra from an 8 gb RAM/128 gb storage model to a 12/256 you don't have to pay the extra $100. Not sure what markets this will be for though.

If it is for the U.S. market my guess is the accessories pre-order credit won't be the $150 though? Although we can dare to dream.

@BerryBubbles: may i ask if your reservation email which came in at 5am was PRIOR to the Unpacked event? or was it a day or two AFTER the Unpacked event please?

since the Unpacked event is tomorrow morning, 10am EST, i am hoping to use your experience as an estimate of when our emails will arrive for this current year.

thank you.

I'm sorry, I didn't see this earlier...

I dug out all my records.

~~The Unpacking was on the August 5th, at 10am Eastern Time.

~~I didn't reserve my Note20U until August 5th at 1:06pm MST. Guess I didn't decide until the last day.

~~Pre-orders started at midnight, which would have been August 6th.

~~My email from Samsung stating it was time to order was time stamped at August 6th 5:06am MST.

~~So it comes to 16 hours after my reservation, 5 hours after the pre-order began. Not bad for reserving just 11 hours before pre-orders started.

It's tough to compare as we don't really know if the demand will be higher for the Note22 than it was for the Note 20. Everyone will probably say it is but how do we really know.
:)

I think for the s21 after the unpacking, the pre-orders began. So it was on the same day unlike the Note 20.
