So....does the phone do voice and data at same time over both 4g and 3g? Had read some where prior to release where it looked like it would do both due to new chipset. That was one feature that is cool on my Thunderbolt. I live in a 3g area but work in a 4g area. So when at home on 3g I could be talking to someone who might ask a question and I could look up the answer while still talking. Slightly off my own topic here but has anyone else had any issues with 4g going in and out? I notice mine doing this it seems late at night. I will have full bars and 4g then wham......not 4g but still full bars. Frustrating to try and watch youtube and it keeps buffering due to the 4g loss. I am near Atlanta area for reference.

All current LTE phones allow you to talk (CDMA) and use DATA (WIFI or LTE) on Verizon as they are two separate radios.

seems the op was asking if voice and data could be done at the same time on 3g. I don't think you answered the question. HTC phones seem to be able to do this, I'm not sure if it's specific to HTC, or if its related to the Qualcomm chips.

Yes that was exactly what I was asking. I had read in the Sprint forum that it was possible but I never heard anymore about it. This was during pre-release time so I was curious now that it has released what the verdict was. Here is a quote on the subject:

According to KSmithInNY (Android Dev) The SGS3 is listed with the FCC as SVDO and SVLTE capable. So yes this function will work with data over EVDO or LTE (once launched) because the 1x radio (voice) is separated and independent of the radios using data.

yes it can, per the fcc filing. Samsung wouldn't put it in there if it wasn't capable of doing so.

Thanks for the replies. Its cool that it can do it on both 3g and 4g. Not that I use it a whole lot but when you need to look something up right quick while talking on the phone its neat that you can. Of course I will not have to worry if 4g will hurry up and get to where I live. It is about 25 miles away. May be a little while because where I live is not really a major city or even a larger sized city.

I can confirm my sprint version let's you over 3g. Once I have LTE ill be able to (of course) on that as well.
