Alrighty...

So my home was SDX-developers when I had the Samsung Moment. I got so tired of the stupid data lock up issues and Sprint trying to shaft me so I sold the moment for 120 and picked up the Optimus brand new for 150 off Craigslist. Couldn't get it for free through sprint, not ready for 150 rebate yet. So thats my story.

NOW...I am not new to roots, roms, custom recovery or anything.

So I have rooted my Optimus S and been looking over at the benchmarks that people are getting with some little changes.

I currently have my Optimus completely stock, rooted and clocked max 600 with setCPU.

WHAT I WANT TO DO

Trying to keep phone as normal as possible so I am wanting to just add the overclocking kernal from Zefie and then overclock it to 806 which seems to be the most stable.

My linpack results were just barely under 4 MFLOPS.

WHAT I NEED

I just need to make sure my process is correct...so can someone confirm this.

1. Download the zip from Zefie's Xionia Kernel 2.6.32.26 thread
2. Follow his rules.

LAST QUESTION

1. Do I need to apply the custom recovery([Custom Recovery] Optimus S/ Thunderc-sprint) to install kernal or am I good just using the adb on my computer?

2. Would it be best/Do you recommend just going ahead and applying the [Custom Recovery] Optimus S/ Thunderc-sprint just because?

You'll need to install the custom recovery to flash the overclock kernel.

Despite coming with Android 2.2, the Optimus S stock has JIT disabled. To get best peroformance independent of overclocking, you'll want to enable it using a buildprop file, and to do that you'll also need custom recovery.

Ok cool...soo where do I locate that buildprop file.

I have everything else.

**EDIT**

So I located this [MOD] Flashable buildprop edits (stock, stagefright, jit) thread HERE.

I am trying to see which buildprop do I need. I am not too sure what stagefright is. I know the jit one but should I do the deluxe or just jit?

Stagefright is a new multimedia platform introduced in Android 2.2. It's pretty buggy and has been disabled by default. The problem, however, is that some apps see that you have a froyo phone and expect it to be there and won't work if it is not there. On the flip side, some apps don't work with it enabled. I personally have it enabled (ie I've flashed deluxe) because my NPR streaming audio app doesn't work without it, but I have the jit-only buildprop file on my sd card in case I run across an app that doesn't work with stagefright and I need to toggle it off. FYI, without stagefright enabled you will not get some of the performance scores others get, so if you wanted to max out on some of those scores you'll want it enabled.

Much appreciated...for the response. I dont think I will need it. I am not looking for the super high results. Just get a little faster with the kernal.

So Im going to get the custom recovery and just add the buildprop and kernal...that should do me nice.

stagefrieght, as mentioned, is needed for some media files, while with it, some will not work. i hear streaming apps want stagefright. when i tried it myself, some of my movies and stuff on my sdcard wouldn't work properly so i ended up turning it off.

with stagefright on you will get quadrant scores that are very high (1300 or so) due to some media formats not working. quadrant scores something the highest possible if it doesn't work so don't believe those scores.

you'll def. want the custom recovery. remember not to wipe the phone from settings in android once a custom recovery is installed. then flash the kernel. i'm getting linpacks in the mid to high 9's. neocore hit 50fps. quadrant without stagefright is 575.

welcome to the optimus :)

so, the 1300 quadrant scores arnt like legit scores, meaning the phone doesnt really out preform the evo?
